Reviewer's comments
"As you could guess, Leoc brings to the table yet another adventure demo that promises and delivers more than is shown on the front page. It's a great atmospheric adventure that offers something that is rarely seen- a level you can genuinely get lost in and tense in. I accidentally played it with Crystals on, and it made the experience tense when I could not afford to lose progress. I died, but eventually I crawled through and achieved victory even if the level itself fought to prevent me from winning, and that was amazing to see from a TRLE. Quality: well, you can bet it's going to be quite enjoyable and the experience is pleasant to look at as well. The darkness feels empowering without gamma and I truly can't wait to see how the final version presents itself. I really hope for more of these areas because they're done in such a way that they make the original but with plot twists after plot twists. Personally speaking, there were a few unfair parts, such as the triple underwater fan part or the more unfair underwater maze-esque section as TR3's swimming is clunkier that I'd like. Although that is amplified by the fact that I played on safe crystals, so it's more on me. Besides that I can't say anything negative outside TR3's shatter objects not reacting well with the harpoon gun, thus easily wasting ammo on that section. Outside all that, this is a really good level anyone should play!" - OblivionJaw (11-Mar-2025)
"I didn't enjoy this TR3 offering as much as the other one I recently played. It takes up about the same time, a little more than an hour, but it's too dark throughout and there's too much crawling around in tight spaces. Moreover, this builder has also disabled the gamma feature, which irritates me no end. José has provided his usual workmanlike walkthrough which enabled me to get through without undue difficulty due to the generous number of flare pickups, and the level is certainly put together in competent fashion, but I just didn't experience that feeling of having a good time while I was playing. If the full version is to have 12 levels, as indicated by the level info screen, I hope the builder will balance the action with some levels that take place outdoors in a daytime setting. I hope he will also consider restoring the player's ability to adjust the gamma setting to allow the indulgence of personal tastes." - Phil (20-Oct-2024)
"This is a well-builded and solid level not difficult to play. Even when the architecture is not very "cool", the texturization is near perfection and the lightining is very well worked too, so the areas look good in all cases. The secrets are easy to find, and all the pickups were enough for me to deal with all the enemies (the mutant soldiers were a good touch). It notices a good effort to create a good atmosphere too, with a good use of camera shots and apprpriate musics (I missed some flybys). On the other hand, I found a simple gameplay with no puzzles to solve, only use keys or cards to open doors, move crates and no more; I found excessive crawlspaces slowing down the game, but at least there is no much backtracking and you wont need to look for small details to progress. We'll see what we'll find in the final release." - Jose (12-Jun-2024)
"This is an action-packed little demo that bodes well for a possible full version. Being a demo, the duration is rather brief and the gameplay on the easygoing side, but there's enough action to keep the player entertained in the form of some fun exploration, mildly challenging traps and enemy attacks (puzzles are a bit on the scarce side though). The construction, it has to be said, is absolutely sublime. The lighting is a bit overly gloomy at times, but the textures are crisp and pleasing and the atmosphere does an admirable job of evoking the original TR5 submarine section. Very well done in the TR3 style." - Ryan (11-Jun-2024)
"Submarine but not substandard. Everything here makes sense but too extensive storage moments I would scrap some of. We get some spook. Multi card and multi crowbar is a spark of reason we prolly never had before... Also wow a level with setup.bat to help the casuals, another very rare consideration. Klap klap klap." - DJ Full (19-May-2024)
