Reviewer's comments |
"The level is short and quite simplistic both in terms of gameplay and aesthetics. Your main
objective is to find four gems which requires performing typical jumps, moving two pushable
objects to right places, activating some switches, and avoiding few traps. Visually the
rooms are quite crude and empty containing flat lighting and limited number of decorations.
In summary, I did not find this level particularly immersive and entertaining, but it does
not include any big problems or bugs either that would have seriously ruined the playing
experience." - Samu (18-Aug-2024) |

"(5) Gameplay & Puzzles: This is an easy 20 minute adventure, where there are no
bad/frustrating gameplay tasks, however, nothing really memorable either. There is a brief
moment where you see a lizard (?) go into a crawlspace. I thought this was unique,
however, nothing comes of it. It would have been cool if the builder had utilized this for
a puzzle (i.e. following the lizard). The ending is anti-climatic. (5) Enemies, Objects
& Secrets: Nothing interesting with the enemies; the skeletons that are triggered at
the end are not used effectively, as there is such a large space to run past them. A few
different traps are used, and there is very little object decor. (4) Atmosphere, Sound
& Cameras: I have played the builder's previous "Return to the Tomb" and I think that
the atmosphere and sense of immersion here is a significant step backwards. There are many
"barebones", sterile rooms that do not give the impression that they are part of a ruined
temple. Something for the builder to consider is using geometry and objects effectively to
convey a sense of desolation (e.g. overgrown and crumbling areas, sunrays, and so on).
Nothing really stands out with sounds. There are adequate static camera hints. (5)
Lighting & Textures: The texturing is a stronger aspect of the level, with no
misshapen textures spotted (there are however some large wallpapered areas). The lighting
is weaker, with many flat lighting rooms, and areas that are lacking shading.
5/5/4/5" - nerdfury (31-Jul-2024) |

"I am very partial to Cambodia settings, so from that end I did enjoy this less than 20
minute raid, but it really is very, very basic and straightforward. 4 gems to collect, well
5 technically speaking, and a bunch of bats and crocs to kill along the way, as you execute
simple tasks to collect these. The two pushables extend the duration of a very short
adventure to just a little longer and the horde of crocs and skeletons at the very end is
easily outrun, so you can add the medpacks collected from the single secret location to your
collection at home. One for the lunch break. Not bad really, but just too short to be
interesting." - MichaelP (08-Jul-2024) |

"This would be a perfect choice for any
beginning raiders, as it's easy to follow,
contains very little in the way of challenge
and is extremely linear. Unfortunately that
is also its downfall, as it's likely a
little too simple for some players and will
probably not leave much of an impression.
The textures are perfectly fine, there's no
real glaring faults and no glitches and the
like, it's just rather...underwhelming
throughout. Still an ideal pick for
something undemanding, though." - Ryan (29-Jun-2024) |

"A short and nice attempt on Cambodia is always good as the setting is forever uplifting. It contains a fairly easily understandable pickup hunt for just one artifact. After that it's over but the ending gives a bit more than I expected. Playing this one won't hurt." - DJ Full (28-Jun-2024) |

"Based on my suspicion that Osvaldo and TRLE Maker are one and the same person, this builder
has demonstrated time and again that he can do much better than this. I waited a few days
for someone to post a video walk, and when this didn't happen I decided to download the
level and see how far I could get on my own. To my amazement, the game practically plays
itself. Whenever you get to a point where you need to stop and think a bit, the solution is
always somewhere close by and on the obvious side. The enemies are few and well spaced, so
there's no need to provide extra weaponry and ammo pickups. At the very end you have to run
past a pack of skeletons toward the finish trigger, but this is the only adrenalin-inducing
moment in the level. Before then your only worries are bats and crocs and a lone wild boar.
I suppose that we need a ridiculously easy level from time to time for new players to cut
their teeth on, and this one certainly fits the bill. It has no real faults, everything
flows smoothly and logically, it's even well lighted throughout, but it's not going to
impress anyone who's been raiding for a while." - Phil (27-Jun-2024) |
