Reviewer's comments |
"SPOILER ALERT! My reviews tend to be very detailed in what I saw and enjoyed so if you think this will spoil it for you stop reading now! I chose this level having seen it on the Review Wishlist.
What I liked about the level: 1) The compass is elegant and very readable. 2) The multi timed run was smooth, reasonable and fun. You’ll need to sprint but there are no major obstacles, so it was fun to do. 3) I like Lara’s outfit and thank you for the sleeves. 4) Collapsible tile sequence was smooth and fun to traverse. 5) Not fond of enemies but am thankful when the builder limits the range of the enemy so the player can run to a safe spot to take them out. 6) Ah… loved the multi sloped jump sequences in the lava room. Tough but leaves a feeling of accomplishment. 7) One thing I appreciate is that in very large rooms with impressive views high up, there is no visible lagging. 8) I like how all the enemies explode into chunks when dying. 9) Where there were camera shots, it’s very nice how the builder used a few flyby cameras. Very elegant.
What I didn’t like or thought could be improved: 1) Little dinos nibbling at Lara’s feet during a flyby so not fair! 2) I played the 2nd level as to what felt like the logical way and still found the shortcut, so I took it. 3) Sorely missed are camera shots to show what happens when placing gems or skulls, etc. 4) Would prefer timed run switches show on screen timer when pulled.
Conclusion: After having played some long and challenging levels recently, this TRLE was just right. A nice and at times challenging but never frustrating level. I am thankful for Phil’s written walkthrough to help get me through. I really enjoyed myself here and glad this kind of level still has a place in the TRLE community." - Lizard Queen (23-Mar-2025) |

"Basicly I liked the level, maybe the best
word to describe it is the comfortable, it
wasn't too hard and also wasn't too easy.
I like this Skribblerz style atmosphere
and I liked the transparent lava ahmets, I
don't know if it's an original idea. I
think the level design was clean and not
so many things were hiden. There was
always a little fight during the levels
everywhere.
I can not say really bad things about the
level but I think it can be a little bit
better. For example don't afraid to use
camera for every action no matter how far
the door opens, and try to break a little
bit the big same brick surfuces with
something in the design, but nice job:)" - Dawos (14-Oct-2024) |

"This was a bit of a strange experience for
me. An enjoyable one, but a strange one
nonetheless. As Phil mentions (and what I
also experienced), there were quite a few
areas that were seemingly left unexplored
throughout all four levels. These possibly
may have been linked to secrets (as I was
able to finish the game anyway), but I
couldn't shake off the feeling that I'd left
certain things incomplete, as the guide was
barely used. Having said all that, if this
is GMac's swansong, it's a good one,
sufficiently enjoyable in his own style with
everything you'd expect from one of his
offerings, right down to the imposing
environments and flowing gameplay." - Ryan (26-Sep-2024) |

"My walkthrough for this four-level release remains a work in progress for a couple of
reasons. First, I missed all but one of the six secrets, but billie2001 and Ryan have
stepped in to report the location of two of them thus far. Second, in the second level
George has inexplicably left the way to the third level open in such manner that it can be
reached very early before much has been done. Furthermore, the player can access places that
aren't intended to be accessed until much later, resulting in tasks being frequently
performed in an improper order. The guide makes an appearance in this level, and presumably
there's something for him to do here, but I could never find a way of inducing him to take
any productive action. Other than these slight glitches, I found Resonance to be a solid
raid that should provide a couple of hours of absorbing entertainment. The environs are
similar in the four levels, but the differences are substantial enough that I never got the
feeling of continually plowing over the same ground. Although the ambience is somber as
befits George's style, I had no trouble seeing everything around me and had few occasions to
light a flare. If, as reported, this release is George's swan song, he's had a remarkable
building career and his work product will be sorely missed." - Phil (25-Sep-2024) |

"I hoped it resonates with me and it did except from level 2 which I easily sequence broke so I started running in circles, and level 4 which had me climb the same long path many times - meanwhile the progression in levels 1 and 3 is transparent with no issues. Still, if you seek isolation, this game is really good. Material choice and play with colors situates the mood somewhere between classic and NG GMac, so it should suit the majority of his audience. Nice work with the music also. I just don't understand the manor ending, when Lara has the final item regardless from secrets, while only being able to get it from secrets. Actuall, this manor is a complete level but only uses one room for the final cut, and I wonder if I ever played this version as a whole... hmm, I need to check." - DJ Full (29-Jul-2024) |
