Reviewer's comments
"I found this level to be very enjoyable indeed mainly because of the wide variety of different areas to explore in and their layouts plus the fun exploration, multiple traps sequences and the think fast dangers that there is on offer. Set in the daytime there is treetops, caves, lakes, temples and snowy courtyards to immerse yourself in with a lot of platforming, climbing, swimming and searching for items and switches as well as all the traps. There is a large amount of a wide variety of enemies so wide it’s too much to list here but I’m not sure I’ve come across so many and despite the variety it bordered on being a bit excessive so you might want to make it a mission to find the magnum gun and it’s ammo as it’s VERY powerful and will take down most enemies with one shot, just be sure not to use it on the friendly monkeys though. The jungle areas looked so alive with great use of objects, plants and Butterflies, fish etc and what you’ll find when your playing is the heavy use of TR1 elements including the Lara model herself, the textures and visuals and the music and sound track from this game with the new moves and animations adding a fresh take on things. Mu only slight gripes was walkthrough textures used was used more than once and forced me to use a walkthrough and a little too much backtracking back and forth to areas but overall an engaging and enjoyable adventure I’d happily replay in the future" - John (07-Apr-2025)
"Decent raid to be had where you play the path leading up to the events of TR1. Gameplay was a little obscured to say the least! I'd found 3 of the 4 secrets before I'd even found the first thing to do on the critical path, which I had to consult a walkthrough for haha! Other than that though, gameplay was fine and fun enough to keep me engaged throughout. Maybe a little overkill on the enemies at times but a whole armies worth of ammo can be found throughout the level to take care of them. The level looked great, a really picturesque jungle area! It was a little dark in places, had enough flares to get by but had to be frugal at times as was running low on occasions. I'd definitely recommend this level though, I had a good time with it!" - Feats (24-Sep-2024)
"A rather pleasant and atmospheric 40 minute trip that shows only few issues typical in debut levels and rather proves the builder has a grasp on creating atmospheric settings. A few cracks in texturing and lighting but most of the time this was rather well designe.d The gameplay is quite okay most of the times with several traps and jump sequences, and I enjoyed the exploration of the jungle for most of the time but the to and fro towards the end was a bit too much for my liking. Enemies are plenty but the provided ammo is more than enough, even more so if you're going for the four rather nicely hidden secrets. Overall a good start and hopefully there is more to come ..." - manarch2 (14-Sep-2024)
"Bugs/Functional Issues
  • Some collapsable floors get reset after they fall, but they don't have collision and Lara will fall through them. This doesn't halt progression, just be sure to jump over them.
Liked
  • Most of the exploration is easy going, but there are a couple of ramps that throw boulders and blades at Lara.
  • A nice variety of enemies are used. Some come in pretty big hordes, but an even bigger (if not excessive) supply of ammo will help Lara get past them.
  • The geometry and texturing are on the simpler side, but the lush decorative objects still help to give some jungle immersiveness, and overall it is a good showing for a debut level.
Time: 1 hour 8 minutes | Difficulty: Easy | Rating: 6.75/10 - Ok" - JesseG (03-Sep-2024)
"First of all, the Difficulty category should be changed from "challenging" to "medium" at most. Although I found the gameplay to be engaging and having ample variety, it's all rather straightforward and aside from some excessive backtracking shouldn't pose a problem for the casual player. What I did find distracting, however, was the darkness and the limited flare pickups. I ran out early without realizing that each pickup provided only five flares, so you need to use them sparingly. On the other hand, each one lasts for a minute and a half, which may be an acceptable trade-off. Moreover, each ammo pickup provides a generous helping of rounds, and I was able to accumulate literally hundreds of magnum bullets while using them with total abandon. A nice raid to bring us back to "normal," so to speak, after a grueling two-month BtB competition." - Phil (03-Sep-2024)
"A short and sweet jungle level with the usual trappings, with the added nostalgia of TR1 Peru. There's nothing at all difficult to achieve save for a few mildly challenging trap sequences, so it should be accessible to all groups of raiders. It's a little too linear for its own good though, as you tend to zoom from room to room solving tasks along the way and doing a bit of annoyingly repetitive backtracking. Even the enemies are easy to dispose of thanks to supplies being extremely plentiful, although they were fun to defeat nonetheless. Maybe a couple of puzzles would have rounded the level out more, but overall not bad at all." - Ryan (03-Sep-2024)
"Of curiosities, the combat is important - so balanced no meds is no problem despite of countless opponents battled. Non-hostile life is here as well, in great abundance - in general, this level has a LOT of things. I think the builder had ups and downs as the visuals are sometimes lush and cosy, sometimes crude and empty, and the game jumps between those two styles without any transition. The major flaw is the insane amount of running forward and backwards between the map edges, I think 1/3 of travelling was unnecessary. But nothing else is boring and I can see a very promising start of a new builder. Welcome aboard." - DJ Full (26-Aug-2024)
