Reviewer's comments |
"Actually one of the best levels I've played recently without any major downside I can really think of. The gameplay despite of being a jungle level is not that hard to get through, the level starts to get challenging once you get in the temple but still its pretty doable and enough resources are given through the level, probably the only downside I can think of gameplay wise is the underwater areas which are not so fun to get through I guess. Other than that pretty much every task in this level is unique on its own, and so are the secrets which are actually really well done and its one of the few levels I can think of where the story telling actually adds quite a lot to the world-building of the level. Atmosphere and lighting and textures I have nothing to say about it because it's flawless from beginning to end and there are details even on the most little things. Recommended for pretty much everyone but TR3 fans might have the best time here." - Neltharion (20-Jun-2025) |

"I'm not a big fan of jungle levels because they are usually hard to navigate, but this one
is the most player-friendly jungle I've ever seen. Classic but far more beautiful, immersive
and entertaining. Go for it!" - billie2001 (30-Mar-2025) |

"I am not a fan of Jungle levels, but this is an exception. The level is made with a high
level of care for customisation and quality, to the point it's weird this doesn't have
more reviews and at least ratings. From the journal entries that also use real historical
information to base the game off of, to the weapons to enemies to the font, everything has
the builder's touch of gold that really makes everything shine well. The textures having
real life references and not just existing as is makes me really giddy considering
historical accuracy and usage of real life traditions in TRLE is both unique and nearly
never done.
Lighting is done extremely well, to the point I can't tell you any points that were either
too dark or too bright, everything simply being and shining the models and textures in
their soft glow. It's gorgeous and looks incredible, from the caves sections that have a
soft blue glow to them, to how torches emit a strong orange-yellow glow from them.
Lighting carries a sense of realism in this TRLE that also gives it a boost in quality, as
well as enjoyment. No random bulbs here, just believable, natural bulbs all around.
Texturing, again, is done with some historical accuracy and reference to it, which is
amazing in of itself. The way the builder applied them to the level however, well, it's a
spectacle of eye-candy combined with the foliage and lighting, and it's easy to get lost
in the sight and to just take a moment and look at everything. Same goes for all custom
models- they are done with care and in the classic fashion that the builder was going for.
The journal entries and the pages talking about real life aspects that were translated
into TRLE were a joy to read through- it shows you the builder cares about his work, and
the journal entries add a lot to their work as a whole. The story and goal were clear, and
I never questioned why Lara was here: It's clearcut and concise as well as enjoyable.
Perfect dare I say.
This TRLE is absolutely one of my top 15 favourite TRLE's of all time, making me like the
jungle [if done right] and simply giving me a genuinely enjoyable experience with clever
and unique moments- and that's what TRLE should be about- both the builder and the player
enjoying the level. One day I will definitively replay this level, and I'll check out the
two other levels the builder made just because of how good this one felt." - OblivionJaw (11-Mar-2025) |

"After the relative drabness of Lost and Found, I found this colorful, well-lighted adventure
(that in most of the early going takes place in a bright outdoor setting during daylight
hours, a rarity these days) to be a sheer delight to play. The builder-provided walk not
only tells the player what needs to be done but explains some of his thought processes in
laying out the well-executed game map, not to mention the frequent journal entries with
helpful historical and cultural background information. As others have mentioned, the
ambiance makes you feel as if you're playing a TR3 level, which I consider to be another
welcome change of pace. The gameplay can be somewhat challenging at times, but I found that
the harpoon can be used when you're out of the water, and since the GUNS cheat indeed works
here I was able to handle the motley assortment of enemies with relative ease by using
explosive harpoons. Even so, that optional hydra battle at the end was the most difficult
I've ever encountered, and even with unlimited uzi ammo and frequent dips in the poison
pools it took me close to a half hour to vanquish all three heads. Levels of this type
aren't seen often enough these days, and I wish we had more of them. Highest
recommendations." - Phil (10-Mar-2025) |

"What a splendid experience this was!
Sometimes you happen across a custom level,
and it just clicks real well on all counts.
This is undoubtedly one of those cases. The
gameplay is thoroughly enjoyable and varied
throughout, and manages to strike the
perfect balance between being somewhat non-
linear and not being at all confusing. You
can explore the temple areas in any order
and the need for backtracking is minimal, as
some welcome shortcuts become available once
you've completed an area, which makes for a
more fluent and player-friendly experience.
I particularly enjoyed navigating the poison
pool sequences (just the right level of
challenge there!), the multiple timed run
involving four levers, doing the obligatory
jumping around treetops and pitting Lara's
wits against the denizens of the jungle
(Shivas included). Loved the setup of the
secret quest with its whole new areas to
explore, too. Everything looks gorgeous
throughout, with top-notch textures and the
atmosphere is absolutely brilliant. If I had
any minor complaint, then maybe the blade
traps were a bit too fiddly to get past
without health loss. Otherwise, this is a
near-perfect raid." - Ryan (20-Jan-2025) |

"Disliked
- Some of the falling stalactities are in pretty devious places, particularly underwater.
Liked
- There are some nice puzzle moments, mostly involving pushing blocks around, but the most interesting is the room with the golden water pools that will also test Lara's agility underwater.
- The temple areas are full of traps for Lara to dodge, as well as a few timed sequences.
- A good variety of enemies based on those from TR3 also stand in Lara's way.
- The visuals are quite solid, with a nice balance of natural jungle areas surrounding the various parts of the temple.
Time: 1 hour 28 minutes | Difficulty: Medium | Rating: 8.75/10 - Very Good" - JesseG (16-Jan-2025) |

"Really nice level by a very good builder.
I like how, even with the TR4 engine that it
felt like TR3.
I liked the journal updates, I like learning
history and story in there.
The texturing was really well done.
The geometry was very classic.
The puzzles were engaging and never got
annoying
The lighting was pretty good.
The statues that came to life were well
implemented.
Secrets were well hidden as I didn't get any of
them.
Yeh overall great level." - JimmyBeon (30-Dec-2024) |

"As classic as it gets, with new twists and secret lore. It could step beyond the prequel area but it passes as a worthy remake, revamped and expanded in a way dedicated enough to recall approach revisions like from Tibetan Winter or Ayutthaya. It has a learning curve from chill to challenge (almost absent in custom levels), so it can be tried by beginners." - DJ Full (20-Dec-2024) |

"A superb level I really enjoying to play.
I remember having playing The Baths of Harappa from the author 20 years ago in Tomb Raider Online, a french site and enjoying it.
The remake is of course better and introduce news tools likes Pluggins and a diary to give to the adventure a different style from the previous game of the author.
The game is not really hard and I think each players can easily finish it without difficulties, even the beginners.
I really like the secrets system who give us various infos about Tomb Raider games and and I thank the author for his help in discovering the vulture secret. The bonus room is also very fun. Like Christopher I love offer specials rewards for those who find all secrets.
The textures are awsome with various pictures of the India culture.
If I remember well I has never use a flare during my playtime, or maybe one or twoo. I really appreciate this because it's something I always want to do in my own levels.
I hope not wait 20 years to play another level of Chris because this one is a masterpiece.
2h03 for me and a future hall of fame." - Bigfoot (11-Dec-2024) |

"A really interesting adventure here which I found a delight to play. The level itself is
very well designed, with interconnecting paths, pools of water (where there would be pools
of water), tree canopies and beautifully designed temple rooms and caves. It's one of those
levels which make you say "ahh, that goes there" a lot, which is great. You can tell a lot
of thought and attention-to-detail has gone into it, with even simple things like traps
having different mechanics and how puzzles come together so perfectly. Texturing and
lighting are both beautifully put together. I am a fan of exploration based levels as
apposed to enemy rich (just my own personal preference). Here you feel like you are actually
exploring a temple with Lara and she is documenting and making references; all while
educating the player as you journey together in a fun and memorable way. The ambience and
the music was good and really adds to the immersion. My playthrough took 2 hours 20 mins,
with 2 secrets of 5. So it seems I have some more exploring to do to get the other 3 and I
love that you can access all parts of the level at the end in order to 100% it. Nice work!" - JaayStation (10-Dec-2024) |
