Reviewer's comments
"Short but substantial, and very well decorated. The level design is simple but gold, it kept me engaged the whole time. And the animation when Lara bumps into walls is adorable! It made me giggle every time, instead of getting frustrated as usual. It’s not an epic, but I think it excels in every category." - Leti (02-Aug-2025)
"This is a relatively short Advent offering, but I found it to be much more eye-pleasing than the other 2024 entries I've thus far played. The enemies are few and far between (a bat, a skeleton you can avoid, a wraith and a few scorpions), and you get much more weaponry than you'll ever need, but play this one for the exquisitely scenic environs. In my opinion this is Sponge's best level to date, and I hope we see more from him." - Phil (14-Feb-2025)
"One more good offering from Sponge. It has everything to be entertaining without twisting neither your fingers nor your brain: Good looks, a fresh environment, good platforming, some puzzles and traps, but nothing too difficult to overcome. I had a great time playing it. Recommended to everyone." - billie2001 (06-Feb-2025)
"Once again, Sponge provides us with a charming little addition to the Advent Calendar. After the epic Bloody Christmas, this comes across as a nice little respite. The moonlight village is lovingly made with some interesting texture work and a nice little variety of places to explore. Gameplay isn't too difficult if you keep your eyes open, although you do have to backtrack a bit once you claim a necessary item. There's also a neat but not too difficult push puzzle, and a trap room near the end does switch up the difficulty slightly. But overall, this is cute and placid, perfect for the season." - Ryan (09-Jan-2025)
"Another very short Christmas (or Advent) level. My subjective opinion is that it looks a bit ugly with these low-res textures. The gameplay is OK. It's mostly collecting items and finding your path. The skeleton was annoying and not obvious. Near the end there's suddenly a harder obstacle with moving knife wheels. The game modifies slightly some of Lara's animations and movements, which I think was a bad choice. It made playing this a little bit annoying. Very little Christmas-related stuff. This can probably be played outside of Christmas time." - tuxraider (04-Jan-2025)
"After my previous humongous TR Christmas adventure I was looking for another Christmas fix but something a lot smaller and this one certainly ticks that box. The snowy nighttime setting in an Arabian town was definitely different and made for a refreshing change as we explore around this mostly abandoned place. Activities included really good and fun platforming and Manoeuvring around rooftops, balcony’s and through windows, ledges etc as we look for lots of levers and items to collect and use. Other tasks was a enjoyable pushable object puzzle, the getting a skeleton to smash a pot task and of course the deadly traps to avoid such as spiked walls, fire, razor doors and nasty blades. Despite the skeleton smashing pot task it was all quite straight forward and I didn’t even need a walkthrough at any point, the ending room scene with Santa’s snowmobile crash with the camel added some humour for an abrupt finish but yes overall a fun little adventure." - John (03-Jan-2025)
"I like classic looking levels, hence the 9 I gave on atmosphere, but the gameplay was kinda random and I found myself having to look at a guide on where to go next as some parts were well hidden. There were a few enemies here and there. I liked the ghost and skeleton, was surprised to learn the skeleton could smash the jar however. The atmosphere is my favourite thing about the level, the small part of the town is shown off very well." - JimmyBeon (30-Dec-2024)
"Disliked
  • Some switches could use camera cues to let the player know what has changed.
  • I would have preferred some kind of hint that the dagger was boobytrapped.
Liked
  • A few circular blades, spiked doors, and flames will pose an obstacle for Lara.
  • The pushable vases puzzle wasn't very involved, but I appreciated it nonetheless.
  • The visuals make for a nice little town area to explore.
Time: 52 minutes | Difficulty: Medium | Rating: 7.75/10 - Good" - JesseG (30-Dec-2024)
"Very nice approach here, a lot of cute new things without oversizing. You feel like exploring a hidden district instead of an entire town so it's perma cozy. I'd make the hexagram puzzle unescapable until the pickup is taken. I'd also move the finish a bit further as you can't see the stuff in the last room. Recommended for chill mood anytime." - DJ Full (27-Dec-2024)
"A Xmas level set in an Arab town - a quite unusual theme and not seen much before. It's short and sweet with a lot of items to collect. We also get to push some things around and omit traps which await our death in the underground chambers of the town. The town itself looks really pretty and has charming atmosphere, although I wish it was more lively. The textures (mainly from TR4's Cairo, which I really like), the lighting, the architecture - everything is well done. All in all, it's a short and pleasant level with quite an unusual setting when it comes to Christmas time. Recommended." - BlackWolfTR (26-Dec-2024)
