Reviewer's comments |
"This level was much more complex than I initially expected; even with the help of the cameras and on-screen texts, it's sometimes difficult to guess where to place certain items, such as those to use on the barbecue, for example, or the exact location and orientation to use them, such as the handle in the basement. Aside from that, I didn't enjoy this level very much, as it simply involves going around and around exploring rooms and locations only to find objects, and then going around again to find the right place to use them. In any case, the author has clearly made significant progress in using the editor and other level-creation tools, so his next creations could be really good. I'll definitely check them out." - Jose (14-Mar-2025) |

"A nice, chillout home level, and we don't have many of those. It's not without some hiccups
but in the end everything worked for me. Passing through a closed trapdoor is the only
softlock I faced, but to be honest, it's obvious we shouldn't do that. lol
Unlike in Pedro's "serious" levels, the shortcomings in his chillout levels can be easily
forgiven and let you spend a good time with them." - billie2001 (30-Jan-2025) |

"In spite of some harsh criticism, I actually enjoyed this level immensely in spite of the
known glitches - one being that I couldn't reload a savegame for the first try. I don't
know if this was to do with my PC but I recently got kitted out with a new system and it
worked much better.
There was a lot of coming and going depending on what order you play in. I did find
myself trapped in the cellar having fallen through like others mentioned on the forum so
had to restart. The moveable box in the upper corridor of the house also had to be moved
in a certain sequence otherwise Lara refused to push or pull it (in my case at least).
Some of the time I wasted was due to my own ineptitude. For example, I had previously
attempted to pick up what I now know to be ice cubes but Lara said no. I therefore
assumed it was a non-interactive object like litter. So later in the level I was going
back to the bathrooms looking for workable taps and even stood in the shallow end of the
swimming pool where the ice cubes were to try to fill the empty tray!
A couple of times I found myself performing an action without being shown of any changes
so I did find myself running around quite a bit.
It had a lovely atmosphere and the finale of the party guests and Lara dancing was a nice
and unexpected touch!" - High Priestess (26-Jan-2025) |

"It's a decent level and quite pleasant but not very polished. The level focuses on hunting
down different items and besides there is not much else to do. The visuals are fine. Some
more plants could have been put outside because it feels pretty empty. I beta-tested this
game but not everything has been fixed. First of all, I couldn't finish the level because
the last grate didn't want to open despite the fact I had done everything in the level
already. This issue is probably the most glaring one. I didn't experience it during my first
playthrough. Other minor things include the grill that sets itself on fire after reloading,
secrets not counting in the statistics, flares that are pointless (we have a flashlight) or
annoying camera after putting stuff onto the grill which repeated several times and wasn't
escapable. All in all, the level itself isn't bad. I don't think the others had the issue
with the last grate not opening. It was probably because I loaded too many times. It
obviously was mentioned in the decription that loading too many times will result in
glitches but nevertheless something like this shouldn't happen. The level is not very
innovative but still quite pleasant. The final cutscene of Lara and her friends dancing is
quite funny though. If you like collecting zillion of items then go ahead and download it." - BlackWolfTR (22-Jan-2025) |

"This could be a nice, short, relaxing level. But unfortunately there are some game stopper bugs, which lead to very weird broken gameplay issues. You need to be careful not to trigger them.
Disregarding the bugs:
- It's a peaceful level set in a warm climate, a nice change from all these Christmas or winter levels. The location is pretty and it's fun to explore. Much of it is set within the mansion.
- It's very puzzle centered, basically a key and item hunt. It's relaxing and easy. There are no enemies, no complicated jumps or timed run.
- On the other hand, some item interactions are obscure and may take a while to figure out. Some camera hints seem a bit forced. The gameplay could be slightly more diverse.
- Visually, it looks good, but there are areas that are too repetitive, and much of the outside looks empty.
- Some illogical and/or funny things, I just assume they're all meant to be funny.
The bugs:
- The level page states that loading/saving is broken. I ran into this immediately. One time I reloaded, the grill was already on fire for some reason, while I had a torch without fire, and wondered why the hell I couldn't light the torch on the grill. I think loading a savegame can cause this. Just saving doesn't seem to introduce any corruption.
- Another very obvious and fatal issue are the broken trap doors. There are two trapdoors. Both require keys to open. The first is outside and leads to the cellar. I could simply walk into the trapdoor and landed in the cellar. I couldn't get back and was stuck there forever. The second trapdoor leads to the attic. I could climb through the closed door, but couldn't get back, so I was stuck in there forever. How can trapdoors even fail like this?
- In summary: Do not use save/load. Do not try to walk through closed trapdoors. I could finish it like this, though I'm unsure if there aren't other bugs you could trigger.
- As the author claims, there aren't many dangers to Lara, so there's no need to load at all. But Lara can still drown or die from fall damage. There's a long ladder she has to climb at one point (with a jump to get off it), where it's not that hard to die from falling. Also it's annoying that you can't just end the game and resume it later.
- I think this degree of bugginess is not acceptable. This needs a v2. The author could also just disable the save function, which would cause some players to complain, but it's better than having unsuspecting players run into known softlocks. On the other hand, with enough warning and advice, this game should be playable and enjoyable.

"Nice level, a pleasant change when its outside cold and Lara is in swimsuit :D" - Lioness_86 (11-Jan-2025) |

"Yay! Another new mansion level to play! (I love house based levels) Unfortunately this one needs a bit more polish and
feels like a demo as the builder warns that there is a problem with collision with the trapdoors and a problem with the
load/ saving, the latter can be fixed by adding a save folder in the main files but the former you need to take seriously as
I learnt the hard way after I climbed up through a trapdoor to the attic and couldn’t get out again, similar situation with
the basement outside as well. There are other problems as well with the placement of objects etc that should trigger
gates to open up, this is a bit hit and miss with some gates not opening up initially and some others sometimes opening
by themselves without me placing the object or lighting up the grill yet for example, it was only on repeated visits of
these trigger tile areas that they finally opened up. The level includes exploration of a very luxurious house and its
outside areas including a nice pool area. The visuals, location, layout and the objects used were definitely the highlights
of this level for me with the gameplay and puzzles/ activities being a bit disappointing as most of the time it’s just fetch
quests from your friends or constant finding and using items and backtracking with minimal use of platforming tasks or
puzzles and of course no traps or dangers. Overall I did have fun exploring around and it does has its funny moments
with some awkward and amusing dialogue and use of objects but I never did get to figure out if there was a purpose to
that fun trampoline haha." - John (10-Jan-2025) |

"If you look upon this level with a none-too-
discerning eye, you might enjoy yourself
here. The storyline of Lara making sure her
summer party goes smoothly is a good one,
and there's a feeling of accomplishment as
you collect the items to prepare the food
for the barbecue. Unfortunately, the
gameplay tends to revolve around the Home
style of progression, which doesn't really
appeal to me. Namely, scour the map for some
inconspicuous looking items (particularly
the sage plant, which looked like an
ordinary bush) and perform some rather
obscure actions (the toaster switch and the
floppy disk that needs placed in the CD
player). There was also a bit too much
backtracking throughout, made even more
arduous by the sheer size of the place. None
of the secret roses counted correctly,
either, although most of them weren't too
hard to spot. Still, the environments are
quite pleasing and it might be worth a look
for a fairly charming raid." - Ryan (10-Jan-2025) |

"Can give a Xmas feeling squared as it sometimes feels like one thing is needed but there's another elsewhere - so just in case spam action often. It has good selection of materials and presets but it wasn't checked if they work together seamlessly, so it might feel a bit all over the place. Still it does the job, so you may like it if you're into holiday stuff." - DJ Full (04-Jan-2025) |
