Reviewer's comments
"Great two-level adventure, which puts a lot of emphasis on storytelling. The game does not involve any dull moments as it is constantly throwing various challenges at the player including timed runs, all kinds of traps, and puzzles that will make your brain work without being too cryptic. Timed runs are quite fair since they give several extra seconds, and I believe that platforming tasks in general are manageable for most players. Environments are well-crafted with atmospheric lighting and great texturing, although architecturally the game feels slightly uninspired at times consisting of many similar rooms in the indoor section of “Giza Outskirts” level. I encountered a one softlock since a teleported failed to activate in the room where you have to fight a horseman after the metal doors close behind you. However, replaying this part from an earlier save file resolved the problem with the teleporter. All in all, this is a highly polished set of two levels, and I can easily recommend it to anyone who is not sensitive to sinister stories." - Samu (21-May-2026)
"This is indeed a thoroughly rewarding raid from start to finish. The subject matter is admittedly a bit morbid, but the builders were clear on the tone of the story they wished to create so I won't criticise that. The two levels in this set blend into each other nicely, as Lara explores an Egyptian desert, a rather spooky temple and then makes her escape back to the outside world. The game maintains a nice level of challenge throughout, and while there were undoubtedly some tricky bits, they never crossed into the realms of frustration. The acrobatic sequences were really enjoyable and well executed, while the trap sequences required a bit of thinking on my part to pass successfully. A couple of the logic puzzles were a bit on the obscure/unclear side, but I appreciated the thought behind them. The environments are excellently constructed and the atmosphere palpably unsettling. Maybe a couple of the alternate endings were a bit on the overly depressing side, but I quickly forgot about that after going through the "proper" ending, which was sweet and heartwarming. Apart from those minor criticisms, definitely a must-play." - Ryan (21-May-2026)
"This is a well conceived and well executed two-part release that touches all the bases in expert fashion. Although it has a TR4 classification, it has too much horsepower to be playable on my XP platform, but this isn't intended as a criticism. The gameplay can be quite vexing on occasion, but never to the extent that I felt myself becoming frustrated. There's a nice balance between the available weaponry, ammunition and the enemies that are encountered along the way, the lighting is just fine throughout and there's rarely the need for a flare. The puzzles can sometimes be a little hard to figure out, and I didn't find the stone tablet hints to be of much help. Fortunately, there are several posted videos that allowed me to prepare a written walk that provided all essential information without having to articulate the solutions to the various puzzles (which escaped me on more than one occasion). The trap sequences and timed runs can present a challenge to the beginning player, but with a little perseverance they should all be manageable. I invested more than four hours here, and it was time well spent. Highly recommended." - Phil (18-May-2026)
"In this game we return to Giza to explore its tombs and ruins, and we also get to explore a really unique different realm with a very sinister vibe. The atmosphere of the game is gloomy, as well as the story, which develops as we progress via the diary, the tablets scattered everywhere and items' descriptions. The gameplay is well-done and engaging, with exploration, parkour, puzzles and some combat too. Some of the puzzles are farily easy, while others quite unclear - especially the ones that lead to the secrets, for example: there were two puzzles where you were given statements that you had to decide whether were true or not. The problem was that most of those statements were opinions rather than facts, which can't be true nor false, so you just have to guess. The game offers four different endings depending on your choice at the end, which is really nice. Visually, there is nothing to complain about as everything is done really well. By the way, I think the rifle is broken as it deals no damage to the enemies, and I couldn't destroy any shatters with it. In the end, a really good two-level game by two talented builders, which will keep you entertained. Highly recommended." - BlackWolfTR (14-May-2026)
"This is a two level TR4 set. You start off in some desert canyons and ruins before a strange hellish temple, and then return to the desert to finish in another more mundane (thematically) temple. You can see the author's marks on the maps, as the level clearly mostly made by Mahetus is more surreal and horror-like, and Shadoofus' design is their signature tight overlapping layouts. Some areas are a little plain, but most of it looks good, with fitting details and interesting lighting, which all contributes to a dark atmosphere which the story and soundscape supports. Object use is also great, with lots of new and custom objects that add to the story and provide some unique interactions. One blade object did seem to not do any damage, but it was only used in an optional area. I also saw one or two incorrect textures, although not enough to stand out too much.
There's a decent difficult curve through the set, as it starts with mostly exploration and gradually evolves to more complex platforming and trap sequences, to the point of getting quite difficult towards the end (although some of the tougher parts are optional), including some interesting puzzles. The starting level, which makes up most of the set, is mostly by Shadoofus and one of the bigger levels they've made, especially as it ends up being like two different maps by the end. Despite the size, you can see the author's general tight style with the interiors in particular, where there's a lot of tight areas that link closely together in ways you might not realise until much later. The other level seems much more in Mahetus style, and uses larger areas and set-pieces to put you in a hellish temple with more linear progression. While the most unusual visuals being part way through seems a little odd, it does a good job providing variation from the more complex exploration of the other "side." You get plenty of equipment and combat isn't too regular, although there are a couple of tougher fights to dump your ammo into.
Story is a big element, with Lara trying a break some sort of curse, and the nature of the location and the costs for doing so being communicated throughout. There are four endings, and, while one is clearly treated as the "best", the conclusion is somewhat dark either way. Secrets are also well implemented, with each having their own puzzles and areas linked to them; they even add to the story somewhat, and, in that regard, I was slightly disappointed they didn't seem to add to the climax at all, but I guess it already has enough going on. Technically the "true" endings are optional, as you can miss the items you need to get it, and they involve some of the tougher puzzles and traps, however, you're allowed to backtrack for them. There was one crawlspace I couldn't jump out of that seemed to be a shortcut, however, it just skips a couple of simple traps so it's not too big a problem. I also had a problem with text not being possible to activate at the end, but I think this was an issue with me backtracking for secrets at the very end, and not something that can just happen.
An excellent set with a lot of unique concepts only let down by some minor bugs and occasionally simple visuals." - Mman (14-May-2026)
"This adventure has Lara setting out to cure herself of a curse taking over her body. She will travel across three levels in order to collect and offer the gemstones needed to purify her. This impressive levelset has it all - puzzles, combat, traps, and story, and the entire package is well polished. Pros
  • Plenty of enjoyable puzzles.
  • Challenging timed runs and trap sequences to overcome.
  • Good variety of enemies for Lara to face.
  • A lot of world building, including several different endings the player can experience.
Cons
  • A puzzle has the wrong solution - it expects the player to indicate that Cleopatra lived closer to the construction of the pyramids (~2,500 years before her) than the iPhone (~2,000 years after her).
  • Teleporters can kill the player, if they enter it while moving Lara could fly forward to her death while stuck in the custom animation.
Time: 2 hours 39 minutes | Difficulty: Hard | Rating: 9.25/10 - Excellent" - JesseG (14-May-2026)
"A Giza level that maintains a consistently gloomy atmosphere throughout and, if the player so chooses, can also lead to an equally bleak ending. The puzzles are manageable, though you do sometimes lose your bearings due to the complexity of the rooms and have to reorient yourself quite often – but this can be accepted as part of the challenge. There is a soft lock on a ramp that ends at a closed gate, near the water with the Bird Blades; that is the only thing I would change. EDIT: The description in one update says that it's fixed. Didn't check it but I guess it's correct. Otherwise, it is a well-thought-out spectacle that I recommend." - Astraf (10-May-2026)
"It's different, and I like different. But also gives all textbook TR, with high professionalism if you don't count typos someone should really proofread. I'd add longer breaks from the areas of brown and make the mummies a little bit less disruptive, for I walked away till I could kill them and forgot about the puzzle they guarded. Some activity doubling wasn't necessary. Other issues I found are already fixed, so the game should be manageable by everyone, and you will especially like it if you enjoy dark stories." - DJ Full (05-May-2026)
"The music sets the perfect mood. Combined with the dim atmosphere and diverse, intricate puzzles, the game feels vivid and immersive, delivering an outstanding overall experience. There are minor occasional issues, such as random crashes, but they rarely hinder gameplay. The countdown prompts in the later stages are still insufficient. I had absolutely no idea where I was supposed to go, though it might just be my poor comprehension." - cheng (04-May-2026)
