Reviewer's comments
"Well, this is another mansion level with a few modifications (like Lara's fish tank is now a croc one). There's a hunt for keys and stuff, but nothing too new. The racetrack has been changed also, but I must say the original TR3 one is way more fun. Also, you'll trigger some SAS guards when you go into the armory, so there's a bit of combat involved. But in the end it feels like any other mansion level." - alan (02-Oct-2022)
"The changes in this level from the official tr3 mansion level are very few and far between. apart from some sas men, a new very small room leading off the hall with nothing in it and a new jeep course instead of a quad bike course, theres nothing new here, actually the jeep course and modified jeep felt very familiar until i realized its the one from "chocolates home sweet home" but this level here was released earlier so this one deserves the credit for that. apart from that its a level that ive played 100 times already so i grew very bored very fast" - John (14-Aug-2021)
"Another trip to the good old Mansion, this time based on the TR3 layout. You can swim for the racetrack key, do the timed run to the basement and trophy room and drive Lara's Jeep. Or you can exit through the front gate straight away an be none the wiser. For mansion level fans only." - Ryan (07-Dec-2016)
"I should think even way back when this level was made the old mansion had become far too familiar to the majority of players. It's certainly a faithful remake looks-wise, but there's not a lot going on. There's quite a lot of things to do that can readily be ignored so it all ends up being rather pointless. You can, if you wish, have a jeep ride round the race track, but I really wouldn't bother if I were you." - Jay (13-Aug-2016)
"The same old TR4 mansion, but this time with nothing to do. Only some timed runs, pull some switches and no more. Wrong animation when pressing the buttons, very few enemies, only a lonely camera shot and a couple of CD tracks. Well lightened and textured, but for me was very boring. Not worth to play." - Jose (25-Jan-2016)
"Another day, another Core Design style Croft Manor rehash. Only this time, its practically identical in literally every way to the original TR3 level(outside of Lara's character model and the quad bike being replaced with the jeep, that is.) And while there's apparently some newly-designed areas here(according to Orbit Dream), I simply couldn't find it in me to be bothered searching for them(as I've already reviewed this level enough times via plenty of other 're-releases' as it is.) So, if you're tired of retreading familiar territory once again, stay far away from this one and try out something else more worthwhile and original." - Ceamonks890 (08-Dec-2014)
"Hey ho;another copy of a copy of a copy.Or is it? The Author's Read-Me implies that this is built from the ground up and therefore not ripped from somewhere,so credit must be given for that.So too must it be given for providing two secret areas (one of which is quite sneakily accessed and not mentioned in the Walkthrough - am I the only one to have discovered it?);a swimming gauntlet through crocodiles and a bunch of soldiers to shoot as a Finale. You can finsih the level very quickly simply by opening the front Gate;but if you want to ride the jeep, you'll need to find the keys - and that may quite possibly extend the level's gameplay duration to something close to 30 minutes.I now believe I've played all the Mansion remakes - let me hope that these re-creations are now a thing of the past." - Orbit Dream (21-Mar-2010)
"One of the major reasons I play games on a computer is the save option. To find out that this options was taken out made me almost throw it in the bin. But as a good girl I did finish it. I was sorely peeved and also because I've been there and I've done that reflects in my score. 04-05-2004" - Gerty (18-May-2004)
"Not a bad version of the mansion. Extra areas in the house but basically it's exactly the same as the TR3 training level with the same timed runs to the basement water tank and treasure room. When I finally found the key to Lara's bedroom weapon room two guards ran in but there's enough ammo to deal with them. The other menace is four crocodiles in the tank. I did like the new jeep course and Lara has put that big blue exercise mat back into the piano room. It's just hit me what was missing Jeeves! Where is he? Or maybe he's rejoined the guards and that was him with his mate at the end! It's hard at this stage to score for atmosphere lighting and textures in these mansion levels because we've seen it so often it's easy to just ignore it so I tried to look at this as if I never saw the house before and that wasn't easy." - CC (12-Feb-2004)
"It's the same level house that we play always. Same gameplay and puzzles. The only difference is that Lara drives the jeep here." - Yoav (23-Jan-2004)
"Pretend that you haven't seen Lara's Mansion a few hundred times by now and take a look at it. I almost got out without doing the latter as the gates can open right away and you can finish the level. For one time though I passed through the room found a secret with nothing to pick up and got bored seeing the same rooms I've seen before. I think I will have nightmares from now on that all the custom levels out there have Lara's mansion as a theme." - Kristina (09-Sep-2003)
"I think this is one of the better home levels for two reasons: There are a couple of timed runs and there is no maze. Everything else is business as usual. The ride with the jeep was fun and there are even a few enemies. All that ammo is pretty useless though." - Dimpfelmoser (29-Nov-2002)
"This is basically the mansion from Tomb Raider III with a few additions. There's something new living in the secret room below the house there's a new room upstairs beside the music room and instead of the maze you now have a really cool driving track for the jeep which happens to have Lara's initials on it. The author has done a great job of recreating the mansion but there's not much we haven't seen before so some new stuff would be nice. I had no problems saving but I did have a problem getting into the trophy room - Lara stands in the doorway and just won't move." - RaiderGirl (25-Jul-2002)
"As the name says this is a remake of the mansion from Last Revelation and it doesn't stray from the game play in that training level besides a short Home Sweet Home moment as you open the bedroom closet door or gun cabinet and collect the shotgun and ammo while 3 or 4 attackers break into the grounds but then when you take care of them it's back to the training level. I've played it before we've all played it before but if you want to reminisce although I don't know why as if you have Last Revelation then you've already got it so I guess this is just for those who have never played it before. By the way there's a bug that when you try to use the crossbow at the target range the game crashes so I just used the shotgun and also the save option has been removed so just don't try to die or it's back to the start you go." - Sash (21-Jun-2002)
"Ok there is a nice custom outfit for Lara and the custom objects and texturing throughout the level as well as the accuracy of the TR3 Mansion replica is brilliant but you simply don't take away the save option from the players - grr. Also I found the looping music a little annoying and hit a secret sound once with nothing to find there. And of course it is only the mansion so - been there done that..." - Michael (21-Jun-2002)
"The level is nearly equal with the recently published level by TR Freak (Lara's home). This time however there are some enemies and new music. Nothing special. The author does not allow to save games but when I am playing the level the computer stops what do I do I have to begin the level again? It's absurd!" - Boris (21-Jun-2002)
"Are you looking for some action? Well, look somewhere else then. This is just another boring remake of Lara's Mansion. It is almost identical to the TR3 one, but, nothing else. I can't say if this is the best or the worst remake of Lara's house simple because there are already hundreds, if not thousand, remakes like this. One thing I didn't like, though, was the impossibility to save. I got stuck in the door of the trophy room and then what? Restart from the beginning..." - Treeble (21-Jun-2002)
"I didn't think that this was as good a reproduction as it could have been it did have a bug that crashed it. At least the author is trying. I think the biggest drawback was to have 2 Mansion levels released so close together. Now if we could redo tr1 levels that would be great." - Scott (21-Jun-2002)
