Reviewer's comments
"Another shooter and city level from this author. There is some climbing and jumping to pull levers. There's also a lot of guards and sentry guns to kill/destroy. The final challenge is to kill lots of guards, move a dead body and end the level. I didn't like it a lot." - alan (18-Feb-2018)
"This could be a better level if it was properly beta tested, 'cause there are too many situations where the player can get stucked forever and have to reload. Near the beginning I got stucked in front of a crowbar door. Later in the room with the sentry gun and many boxes I was not able to go back to the starting area and I had to cheat. Later, already in the library, I found a corridor with many sentry guns and I had to reload after read the walkthrough. In the final room I jumped into the narrow water channel, the door was closed and I had to reload again. The level is not bad, perhaps with excessive enemies, but better play it reading the walkthrough." - Jose (15-Nov-2017)
"Another "shoot them to high heaven" level from this builder. Loads of guards to shoot in a mixture of dark settings although you do find plenty of ammunition, medipacks and flares to withstand the onslaught. You do get to visit Venice by moonlight near the end, but I'd still only recommend this to those who wish to satisfy their bloodlust. I did get into a dead end after failing to open a door in the water before the end of the level so I just finished there, so be warned." - Ryan (25-Jun-2017)
"I almost ditched this level right at the beginning, but then the irritating earthquake stopped so I persevered. It's very much a shooter, especially towards the end, but you do get quite a lot of medipacks and fire power. It's very dark in places and backtracking to avoid wraiths can become quite irritating and I'd really only recommend this one to players who just can't get enough shooter levels." - Jay (17-Jan-2016)
"Another shooter this one more enjoyable than others. Gameplay was not easy but no hard though. A lots of SAS to deal with and sentry guns but you get a lot of goodies as well. If you like shooter levels, then try this one." - Gonxii (22-Nov-2015)
"And another Shooter from Cool King. This time it is much fairer than in his other level Old Library. While Lara finds in Old Library no Medipacks and only the revolver with six shots ammunition, here she can collect clearly more. Many Medipacks, Shotgun, Revolver, Uzi's, Grenade Gun and substantially ammunition make the life much easier. Whereby is also valid here that one must not necessarily gather everything, otherwise one could get a small Sentry Gun problem. And at the very beginning there is the possibility of a dead-end. But that is fortunately at the very beginning, so not such a big problem. As in the previous level, Lara is also in Venice. The level is well built and textured.
Result: Who wants to blow off one's steam once again, is served here quite well." - Scottie (09-May-2011)
"I've played the author's other levels a long time ago, dropping this one for whatever reason it was. Picked it up again as I noticed I hadn't reviewed it and well, the atmosphere is uncertain, an odd mix which doesn't work well IMO, you get way too many sentry guns (I had to flycheat past one section of the game as there were eight of them and no way to get past them without being burnt alive) and gameplay mainly revolves around levers and a crowbar which if you don't get before climbing up you'll be booby trapped (and you also will in case you fall down after getting it). Several baddies to go down as well, though you're given several shotgun wideshot shells. 25 minutes, 1 secret. 01/07" - Treeble (31-Jan-2007)
"Sorry, but this level was just absolutely annoying. Worst were the millions of sentry guns. What you do is pulling levers next to their corresponding doors, using tons of flares as there are pitch dark areas, getting irreversibly stuck and most of the time it's just reloading. I was hoping this level was better than the author's first one. But it's vice versa. Though the atmosphere is better and you can notice a slight improvement of the the builders skills. But it was just way too annyoing to enjoy it." - Tinka (23-Oct-2005)
"Simple level - start with city wads not much to do many levers switches and jump switches to open doors and raise blocks and kill many soldiers. After a while the textures change to Venice wads - I guess that explains the level's name." - Yoav (30-Apr-2004)
"Oh boy! It's bad enough having to deal with an earthquake in the middle or usually at the end of a level but having one from the beginning is just too much. My eyes were really sore by the time I was finished. It has a lot of problems with thin walls guards appearing out of thin air etc and you can get totally stuck in a few places which meant reloading a previous savegame. Keep as many savegames as you can. It's an odd mix of Venice with anything else that's available thrown in. But despite everything I did like it." - CC (07-Mar-2004)
"Pretty unsatisfying adventure in a mixed sort of environment with loads of enemies and plenty of places to get irreversibly stuck. Not fun." - Orbit Dream (22-Nov-2003)
"As the previous level this also has a problem with the textures thin walls etc. The same SAS guards but more this time luckily the player gets enough ammo and there are many levers and jump switches along with annoying sentry guns. It could have been one level and merged with 'Old Library'. It lasted thirty minutes swimming around and opening doors with the crowbar or not and raising blocks to climb." - Kristina (20-Dec-2002)
"I found it highly irritating that no less than 4 times I got stuck for good and at least on two occasions it was done deliberately (not by me don't get me wrong; it was a set up). Very annoying indeed. Like in the first installment of the Old Library you run from lever to lever and kill the SAS guards en passant. Sentry guns pop into existence walls are paperthin and textures are missing. The end where you are attacked by four or five wraiths all at once is kinda fun though." - Dimpfelmoser (19-Aug-2002)
"This plays very similarly to 'The Old Library' from the same author and the only real differences in this 35 minute level are the inclusion of a handful of sprites and the slightly improved environment although the first half with the grey city textures in the rooms was very much not my style the second half in a Venetian location suited the level much better. Like the other level if you love a good shoot 'em up then you will find plenty of SAS and in large numbers all at once to have fun with here but don't expect a whole lot more." - Sash (21-Jun-2002)
"Sort of as a sequel to the first level of the author again you will spend about 15 minutes here. This one starts with an earthquake in pitch-black darkness and a secret right behind you. There are a few SAS and wraiths that make your life a little harder. At one point tons of medipacks can be picked up on the same tile. The rather fierce battle near the end was kind of fun before you swim to freedom." - Michael (21-Jun-2002)
"Well I must admit this was a far superior level than the author's first few and I had an enjoyable 30 minutes or so negotiating this maze lol. There were a few death trap levers (as in his other levels) so my advice is to save often otherwise it can get quite frustrating." - Torry (21-Jun-2002)
"Though not much longer at around twenty minutes this is a big improvement over the first version. Some of the bugs are still present but the level is a bit more interesting which makes up for that a bit. The first half is set in a warehouse and has you searching various storerooms for the crowbar solving a mirror room puzzle to get to the uzis opening doors and killing soldiers. Then you slide down into an area that reminds me of the Venice levels from Tomb Raider II and through opening doors and pulling switches make your way to the final battle where you're attacked by both soldiers and wraths. Some switches will allow you to progress further into the level and some only summon a few wraiths or cause some machine guns to appear. I found the secret thanks to Mike and many health packs but unfortunately most were at the end of the level. If you're in the mood for a good fight you'll enjoy this one." - RaiderGirl (21-Jun-2002)
"This a 'shoot hem and get killed a lot' level. Annoying was that when Lara died and if you didn't hit the F6 quick enough you get back at the beginning of the game. There are some SAS soldiers you don't have to shoot as they throw grenades at you and as you will know won't hurt Lara. If you are quick enough the minute the wraiths are released you even miss another soldier altogether. The moment you find the 12 boxes of ammo you know something will happen and it sure does. The big medipacks you get at the beginning you do need right away. Could have used more though had to play that part over just to reserve some health for the final battle. Bearing in mind that was made about a year ago and a second level of this author it is not that bad if you like this sort of gameplay." - Gerty (21-Jun-2002)
