"Short but correct level, no enemy except a mummy. Some levers to maneuver, 2 artifacts to find and it's over. Flybys are well executed." - Drakan (14-Dec-2018) |

"Short and quite quickly constructed, not
too bad to look at, but it really lacks in
the gameplay department. I also found the
indoor areas a bit too gloomy for such a
short level. Run through a few corridors,
push a few levers, find a couple of
artifacts, place them and you're done." - Ryan (17-Jun-2018) |

"A short level, straightforward, dark. There are unmarked
spike traps. At the first room, the textures break,
probably because it's a large space. You have to find a
star and an eye of horus. There's nothing very interesting
to see here, so you won't miss anything if you skip this
level." - alan (02-May-2018) |

"A small level from 2001 to spend 10 minutes or so. Its puzzles are loosely based on picking the correct lever for progressing, while choosing the wrong lever ends in Lara's death. It would be nice if there was at list some kind of hint to point out which lever to choose and not risk losing. The initial fly-by camera was interesting but I was disappointed to see a black horizon at its end. There are no enemies in the level except a mummy, which was a shame since I found some shotgun ammo at the beginning of the level. Some mistakes in the level include the lava room, where Lara does not die if she falls in and the water room near the door with the Hand of Orion, which Lara can enter after its triggering and cause her drowning since there is no way of escaping it. Finally where were the Aztecs?
Conclusion: Clearly a beginner's level with some serious mistakes. Interesting fly-by cameras." - TRTheoP (26-Apr-2018) |

"Short level easy to play with a fast gameplay. Simple tasks, I didn't like the unmarked spiked traps in the floor levers; and if you fall in the lava room you never die and get stucked forever. The best were the flybys and the decent texturization. Playable." - Jose (12-Dec-2017) |

"So many levels from the earliest days were put together in a hurry by builders who couldn't wait to experiment and get something 'out there'. Whilst I can sympathise with the enthusiasm, it does rather mean that so many levels from 2001 are like this - short, not very well made and lacking all but the most rudimentary gameplay. Less than ten minutes of running around in the gloom, throwing switches and finding a couple of artefacts." - Jay (09-Apr-2016) |

"This mini-level starts with an impressive flyby and shows basically all there is to be expected and unfortunately also it's biggest flaw, which is the end of the map view and disappearing textures. I think the whole level would have been better off without it. The game play is simple and straightforward. A few unexpected and unmarked deadly levers caused several re-loads and the nasty boulder trap at the Star pickup got me too :-) The water filled room, which could be re-entered through the door opening and caused drowning was odd and obviously a beginner's error. The camera got stuck at a cut scene once and only jumping around blindly brought the look back. Atmosphere was decent and so was lightning and texturing. Don't know why the title says Aztecs, as everything in this level is Egyptian. The level is awfully short and probably best if you want something quick and easy and don't have much time. (9 min, 0 secrets found)" - Blue43 (10-Feb-2011) |

"The idea with the tracking shot at the level beginning was actually quite good, indeed one could thereby see very clearly the big weak spot in this level, because the whole outside area at the level beginning does not look so good. There are missing textures, mistakes with the rendering of the textures (sometimes you can see them and sometimes not) and a black horizon. The sandy dunes would have had to be higher, then the problem with the horizon would not have been. The inside area of the temple looked better, indeed, many stretched textures interfered. And I missed a Flarepackage, because it was partly very dark. Apart from that is this a nice small level for the level hunger occasionally." - Scottie (29-Apr-2010) |

"The temple of Atzec asked me for a little of imagination to avoid thinking of "Egypt «. For decoration, outside is pretty poor, fortunately inside is a bit better but a bit dark and candles are rare. The gameplay is rather banal with some repetitive traps (left / right choice). A small instant of pleasure nevertheless." - Daffy (29-Jul-2009) |

"The only thing going for this level is there are a couple of traps that shocked a really good opening flyby (this is the whole score for that section) and a nice rope swing. The first area outside the pyramid was not great looking especially the background. Inside it was much better but it still didn't do anything for me. There was a very peculiar situation of the eyepiece receptacle disappearing and being replaced with a badly textured 'room' and then when I came back the second time to it it was there properly for me to place the piece." - CC (07-Mar-2004) |

"The camera flight at the beginning surely was made with good intentions - but it displays errors such as not yet triggered fires and missing textures. The gameplay is the familiar one: get into the pyramid pull levers/find keys and get out again. You'll need neither heavy ammo nor medipacks the only surprise was a suddenly dropping spike-ball. Some rooms are nicely textured. A serious mistake occurred by using a flipmap: in a room on the same height as the one you're in is water now so you can walk into it and get stuck helplessly." - Rüdiger (02-Nov-2003) |

"Err... Aztecs? Well as far as I remember the Aztecs were set in Mexico and not in Egypt and there wasn't any 'Horus' god in their mythology - therefore the atmosphere doesn't match at any point. Not many objects around a few traps (push the wrong lever and you're dead) and the textures/lights were nice but the level is so short and you really don't get to see too much of it. The outside was interesting though." - Treeble (08-Jan-2003) |

"A short level you can finish in less than 10 minutes if you don't find any of the traps the author has set for you. There was some incompleteness like the badly crafted outside areas where you can see more of the horizon than needed and it was rather dark at some points. Play it if you want to see the fly-by and climb the pyramid to the top." - eTux (30-Dec-2002) |

"A short level but it has quite a few problems. For a start I very much dislike booby-traps particularly unannounced floor spikes. The surprise boulder is fun and quite fair (it's guarding a prized artifact after all) but levers that serve no purpose besides killing you are not welcome around here. There is also a problem with a flipped room involving a watery corridor lava doesn't harm her and the opening fly-by obviously reveals the edge of the desert cyclorama. Despite all that I was through it in 9 minutes." - Orbit Dream (23-Dec-2002) |
|
"The booby traps made this hard. If you pulled the wrong lever in the wrong room ta-da! you're dead. In the room where you picked up the star it was very hard to climb because the wall didn't look climable. I liked the level even though there were tons of booby traps." - Cory (23-Dec-2002) |
|
"I found this less than satisfying with poorly done textures on the outside area too too dark inside with no flares provided. One mummy. I only rated a little higher than I should on gameplay because of the lever traps and the spiked ball. Not worth the 11 minutes time it took." - Momster (16-Jul-2002) |

"This level is quite disappointing. It started wonderfully with a great camera fly by from the inside of the temple to outside where Lara stands but then only 13 minutes later it finishes and it would not have been so bad if the level played terribly but it didn't. The level has an eerie feel to it with the use of well used dark lighting and the small amount of puzzles it contains which are mainly lever pulling are done extremely well. This is more like a demo and going by this I look forward to seeing a larger level by this creator." - Sash (21-Jun-2002) |

"From a great initial fly-by that you then backtrack with Lara the expectations into this level are high but unfortunately not met. Right at the beginning you have some missing textures and the 'disappearing horizon' issue and later I just hate those booby traps (pick wrong lever and you're dead). Also I found it too dark in places without flares provided and it is over in just less than 10 minutes. Cameras and Sound were used well though and with a bit of additional work this could turn out to be a good level." - Michael (21-Jun-2002) |

"This level can be finished in under 10 minutes. There are no challenges here and really it would be a good one to let the kids do. As usual the level was way too dark and a bit of extra light will help the kiddies out a lot." - Torry (21-Jun-2002) |
|
"This does have a great initial flyby but it is definitely not finished. I finished the level by walking right through where a door was supposed to be. Interesting use of 'choose-the-right-lever-trap'" - Scott (21-Jun-2002) |

"This level only took me about twelve minutes and most of that was spent crossing my fingers before I pulled a switch or picked up an object. The creator here is obviously a practical joker and likes to surprise people - which he did. Few enemies few pickups few puzzles - many ways to die. The textures looked nice though and he did a fairly decent job with the camera work and also in creating a decent atmosphere. I found this to be interesting and clever and would recommend it." - RaiderGirl (21-Jun-2002) |
|
"Apart from the nice fly by this level will be remembered by me as a trap because the author used booby trapped levers. Also he could have provided more flares as some parts I found it a bit too dark. The idea was not bad but the level was so short that I had to have a look if this wasn't a demo." - Gerty (21-Jun-2002) |
|
"This is a very short level and not too demanding but I enjoyed playing it. The textures we really quite good and I liked the booby traps. The whole thing was a bit on the dark side. If it had been longer it may well have scored a lot higher. If you want a slow stroll in the park load this one up." - Doug E (21-Jun-2002) |

"This level gives you mixed feelings. At first you see the blackness beyond because of the author failed to cover it so in between the outside area and the rocks on the horizon you can see the bad connection. Also the some kind of pyramid you are climbing seems to disappear from time to time. Getting inside the scenery changes although it's quite dark at some areas the textures are good and the atmosphere more convincing. Again there are some problems the lever test is a good idea and one spike ball coming down after picking up the hand is nice but as you get to the previous room and in between picking up the second puzzle which is the Eye you can get stuck forever because of a missing texture or door or I don't know what else. If you get through that part there is water I guess it's the connection with the water room and there is no way out from it Lara can't go further than a square. No enemies except a mummy so the shotgun wasn't necessary. Not my idea of a good level." - Kristina (21-Jun-2002) |

"What can I say? You climb up a pyramid do a dive meet one mummy pick up two items and do a bit of swimming in between. Memorable in this one is that you find the Eye of Horus in one piece and that you start this little trip outside the pyramid and then step into the sunlight again a mere 9 minutes later so you can't help but wonder what the point of this exercise was. There is one boulder trap though and a spiked lever. Oh yes if you forget to save before you stumble into the first booby trap you have to watch the rather long initial fly-by once again. Come to think of it as this is the best part of the level you better not save at all." - Dimpfelmoser (21-Jun-2002) |
