Reviewer's comments
"The low amount of reviews submitted for this level should give you a clear indication. Why, indeed, this is a shooter level! But that's not the bad thing about it: it's that it tries to be something more. I personally was a lot more aggravated by all the random, unmarked spike tiles than having to mow down a million enemies. The engine had a lot of trouble rendering enemies simultaneously, so at some point I just stopped caring, and as there were plenty of friendly troopers around as well, the enemies were merely a nuisance after some time. The jungle itself is rather impressive when you consider there are hundreds of tree objects in front of you, but that's as far as it goes, as enemies simply pop-up out of thin air right in front of you (and then keep flickering, as I stated above). There was an extremely unfair room with six or so sentry guns, at which point all my medipacks were drained. Towards the end there was also a secret in the office which totally bent laws of physics lol. I certainly have played (and even built) worse, but this just wasn't any fun. 30 minutes, 2 secrets. 03/18" - Treeble (18-Mar-2018)
"I'll freely admit shooters are not my favourite Tomb Raider genre, but this is ridiculous even by regular standards. From the beginning you are immediately besieged by all manner of enemies that'll slaughter you non-stop if you're not careful (well, you know what I mean). There are some, I'm sorry to say, horrendously unfair sequences in this level aside from enemy overusage: a ridiculous amount of spike traps and the most masochistic machine Gun sequence in a long time (you can't get through without gulping your medipacks, never mind unscathed). The forest and buildings aren't bad, but that's nowhere near enough to make up for the player- unfriendliness of it all. Not recommended under any circumstances." - Ryan (22-Nov-2017)
"Even when I don't like shooter levels I took a try with this, 'cause I advanced soon avoiding enemies from level to level. First I found a shotgun and run further between the palm trees, suddenly I found myself in the next level. Later I found an interesting and dangerous situation with all those rows of spikes coming, but not a big problem; got an artifact, pulled a couple of switches and soon again to the next level. The tasks in the small room with the machine guns were hard and unpleasant, being impaled with spikes and catching fire, but at least there was a nearby water hole... (That was the worst of the game). Anyway, a couple of levels with too many enemies, too many pickups, enemies appearing in midair (teleporting? lol!) and another bad details I can't remember. Only recommended for pure shooters." - Jose (18-Jul-2016)
"This kind of shooter levels really are not to my taste because they contain almost nothing else to do than shooting loads of enemies. Hopefully author included enough ammo, medipacks and also some friendly soldiers which makes the battles easier. The other thing which I didn't like was random crashes probably due to huge number of objects like palm trees in the surroundings. The environment in turn didn't look awfully boxy and bad but not good and detailed either. Unfortunately this level didn't make an impression on me and I don't recommend it unless you like shooter levels." - Samu (15-Feb-2009)
"A level with a lot of potential - the overall setting with the 'palmtree forest' and the kind of base behind it is rather convincing and some of the ideas like the sentry gun area and the deactivation of the various spikes are good. On the other hand this level takes a wrong turn and degrades itself to be a pure battlefield with dogs ninjas and SAS mostly appearing out of thin air around you. Add to that the fact that it does seem to crash in several places without apparent reason and you will likely be annoyed while playing this adventure. Although it really isn't all that bad...ah well take your jeep at the end and ride on to the next level..." - Michael (05-Jun-2004)
"The download is only 5.82 MB that's why I thought I would finish this level very quick. But it was more difficult than I expected. Many opponents there are SAS-Guards dogs ninjas and other warriors. Friendly guys support Lara and so I left the bad guys to them and moved on. Lara has many switches to find they deactivate spike traps. She must find the right way which takes some time. In the houses she looks for hidden switches and three secrets. In the wood keep an eye on the ground to spot the trapdoors. In one of them is the jeep key. The wood is beautiful; it is well done by the author. Riddles are difficult and the whole level is really challenging. Lara needs a lot of medipacks to survive. In the level she finds the following weapons: shotgun uzi revolver lasersight grenade launcher. As a hint to players: collect ammo and medipacks as much as possible because you will need them. When you have the jeep key it is time to finish the level. In my opinion this level is hard work but an experienced player can finish it for a newbie it is too difficult." - Avmaster (23-May-2004)
"This begins in quite a nice looking forest of palm trees but you don't get much opportunity to look around as it's a complete gore fest. Legions of ninjas and dogs - I was so busy bouncing around trying to shoot everything in sight that I ended up shooting the good guys and the monkeys as well. If in doubt just fill it full of lead! After a while I got really fed up with all those trees and would have welcomed a bit of desert but just in time I reached a compound and could see where I was going a bit better. The transition between the two parts of this level were frustratingly confusing and made me feel quite irritable especially since it seemed to be a trigger for yet another shooting match. Ultimately you have to get a jeep to drive out of the forest and end the game which involves a lot of spikes trapdoors and crashing to desktop. Aaaaaargh. Not my happiest raiding experience I have to say but if you like shooters and you're not easily made dizzy you'll be in heaven with this one." - Jay (06-May-2004)
"The beginning full of action. Two kinds of ninjas and dogs attack Lara in a long forest with many trees. In some place the second level load - and this not different: again there are many ninjas and soldiers and few buildings - inside there is objects and the Key to the jeep. Except for the fact that there are new textures this level is not different from any other shooter level." - Yoav (03-May-2004)
"I really loved the atmosphere here thick jungle lots of trees tightly placed together ridges to climb up and more trees slide down through the canopy and more trees. A few textures were missing and some trees are floating in mid air but generally speaking it's fine. All the time shooting different guards dogs and monkeys. I accidentally shot the friendly guards and they turned on me from there on. There is one place a kind of wall of dark rock with an opening and in there is a ton of ammo and medpacks it took ages to pick it all up. And we come to a military compound. A terrific sight of finally triggering all the spikes along this route. I had to read about the trapdoors up high in the jungle I found four of them and down below these trapdoors is a key and a small water canal if Lara is set on fire. I crashed so often in the jungle I got really fed up and left this for a couple of weeks. The solution is to constantly save because apart from crashing you're going between two levels all the time and it's almost soul destroying. But I finally got the jeep out of the garage and drove up and up out of the jungle almost to where I could see the temples background picture where the game finished. There are a couple of bugs one being where you climb the tower to get the camera shot of the garage doors. I pulled it a few times before the door actually opened so keep trying. And inside the garage when I came out of the trapdoor the garage door was closed again but at least now you have a switch inside to open it. I found three secrets. It seems very strange that Lara has to do so much in this jungle to find a vraeus only to use it to get up a tower. It looks to me like it's just an 'escape' level. Be prepared for a lot of crashes or being thrown out of the level to the desktop and not necessarily at the same place each time so save a lot and reload occasionally so you know your savegames are safe and you won't have to redo everything." - CC (12-Feb-2004)
"Shooter lovers rejoice this level should have been called Top Gun! From the moment you slide into the jungles of well who knows every step seems to produce another enemy red and white ninjas dogs SAS even the monkeys and allied men you meet will probably be hit by friendly fire and thus turn into more enemies for you to deal with. Now this wouldn't really be so bad but you are so surrounded by trees that your view is fairly stilted so sometimes you can't even tell if there is an enemy there let alone if they are friend or foe. The game itself is a little confusing as you have to find the correct route to a fenced building where you must take control of a jeep and drive away to well it isn't really hinted at where to so I just drove up and down hills through the trees barely seeing where I was going until I heard the ending music and the game crashed. The confusing parts come with knowing if I went the right way circumventing a spike tidal wave by making what seemed like a not intended jump to a little section of tree and then later I met up with 4 automatic guns in a small underground room where I didn't have a scope for my revolver and don't even know if I was supposed to find one so I took quite a bit of damage and set myself alight at least once to collect a key then once getting this key there is no real clue given that you can use it on a door again underground as there is no lock it. In the end I made it through in an hour without any help but all the time not sure if I was actually doing it all correctly what I do know for sure is that I found what probably should have been the first secret as my third secret and the exorbitant amount of ammo and health it contained sure would have helped much earlier so check the mountainsides very thoroughly. Looking now at this level from a finished perspective and not an in the midst of perspective I can see there are some really nice ideas and quite a bit of thought having been put in to the surroundings I just wish it wasn't all so overdone this I hope the author takes into account for future projects." - Sash (24-Jan-2004)
"You start off with a huge slide and you find yourself in a jungle type of area. There the fun begins (NOT) as there are many enemies that you trigger running through those small palm trees. That also makes it a bit harder to kill them as sometimes you have to stand right in front of them (the trees will get in the way). They appear also right in front of you and do look after shooting them as there are some goodies to collect. Apart from 4 type guards there are also dogs and monkeys. You don't need to shoot the latter but when you do they tend to explode. There are some illegal slopes and some missing textures and also a major problem with the disappearing of the horizon. There is a part in the second level that if you look up at certain places you get thrown out of the game. As I found out I hadn't looked at the upper part of that level enough because of that bug so I missed a trapdoor or three up there. You find a key and that you need for the door under another trapdoor in the garage. Here you will encounter another bug when you reload the game the garage doors will be closed and so you have to open them again. What a drag..... 05-01-2004" - Gerty (14-Jan-2004)
"Well from the start of this level which seems to be two but I believe it was actually split because of the size you are fighting dogs and ninjas SAS until the friendly soldiers come along to give Lara a hand. The forests are huge have quite a few illegal slopes and serve no purpose at all except a piece of them high up which isn't very easy to access. Because of that area I was stuck for good due to the fact that in order to proceed you need to find trapdoors on the forest's ground at some point but if you open the wrong trapdoor sentry guns will make it difficult for you to get a key and some pick ups. Once you get past the spikes and disable them the rest of the level is easy enough there is a key to find and a bug in the level if you save and reload the garage isn't accessible anymore forced the author to place a switch inside so that you won't get trapped. If you are outside you need to go in the tower where you placed the vraeus and use that switch again. The jeep keys are the last item to get and the level ends after going up a slope. There are missing pieces of textures in many places and in one place you can climb behind the buildings and reach the area with some ammo in an illegal way. The game had random crashes in various places mostly near trees in the forest and at the area with the tree ladder in was always crashing for me. I found two secrets in the hour and a half I was running around like crazy to find those stupid trapdoors." - Kristina (08-Jan-2004)
