Reviewer's comments |
"A surprisingly short level considering there's a nice town with plenty of houses and a church, but I think we only ever really explore a couple of rooms in one of the houses as we search for a record to eventually trigger the ending cutscene in the church. There was a bit of swimming in the sewers too. Nothing too taxing but, as I've chosen to, Harry's walkthroughs helped me optimize my time. 15 minutes, 1 secret. 03/22" - Treeble (13-Mar-2022) |

"A nice level involving a snowy town where you must enter some buildings and then into an icy cave.
I'm not sure what the final cutscene represents, but it was nice to look at." - alan (30-Dec-2021) |

"A cute little festive raid around a village at night including an icy underground area
and then a sewer. your finding items, using them, pushing a few pushables around, some
swimming and target spider shooting lol. its all very sweet and simple and perfect to
just relax, explore and soak up all the festive atmosphere, the only thing that
irritated me was the shootable bottom wall in the kitchen that was completely disguised
and i had to use a walkthrough for, the rest was a walk in the park really all over in
15/20 mins" - John (22-Aug-2021) |

"Not a bad little Christmas level with (thankfully) no timed-
runs. I had fun playing it but there wasn't too much in the
way of aesthetics." - High Priestess (31-May-2019) |

"If you're looking for a Christmas raid
that won't tax your brains too much but is
nonetheless pleasant enough for the time
it lasts, then this might be a good
choice. Gameplay is very simplistic and
the running time is incredibly short at 15
minutes, but it at least doesn't get
tedious within that time (with a simple
push puzzle and a bit of underwater
exploration helping to spice things up
slightly), and the construction and
texturing of this small town is very well
done, aided by a good choice of music that
doesn't grate on the nerves. Nothing
difficult here, so just enjoy yourself." - Ryan (12-Dec-2018) |

"The first (now we know: released) level of Sponge, and while it often shows that there's a not already very professional builder at work I think that the deserted Spartan city environment is very atmospheric and the object design at places is rather cute. The texturing is colourful and diverse, yet not so consistent and the flybys appear to be a little glitchy - yet the final sequence is really rewarding and for that alone this level is worth to play though. Still, the gameplay is on the simplistic side with much exploration, a little pushable puzzle and a lasersight task in the sewers, but it's somewhat enough to not make the 10 minutes spent here tedious and actually this was a very welcome, peaceful intermezzo. Found the one secret." - manarch2 (11-Dec-2016) |

"The intro is the most creepy one I have seen in a Christmas game, but this is a really pleasant trip through a city entirely textured with custom tiles, spiced up by multiple little traces of human presence this builder usually applies, and these clouds are fantastic - but it would be better if we could shoot them with revolver to provide the inhabitants with a nice moonlight weather, why not? We can do some easy tasks but while everything is absolutely linear, the shootable walls are almost indistinctible. Things conclude well in a chapel." - DJ Full (15-Feb-2016) |

"This is a 20-minute piece of fluff that provides a stress-free
raid with few memorable moments. I thought at first that the
title connoted a tribute to a golfing great, but because it's
an Advent level I concluded that Niklaus must be an alternate
spelling of Nicholas. Aside from a couple of unmarked
shootable panels (one of which leads to the only secret), this
is a straightforward enemy-free level to play when you have
some free time on your hands." - Phil (28-Sep-2015) |

"This really helped me to relax, easy and fun tasks, nice music and beautiful textures. The level takes place in a small village, an ice cave and there's a bit where you are in the sewers. And all that in about 20-30 minutes. Everything fits great with the holidays. I really liked it!" - misho98 (07-Dec-2014) |

"This level gets a low score only because we rate it on the same 1-10 scale as any other level, but as a holiday level go, this is fantastic work. The atmosphere that is created is very rich and well presented. Lara is dressed very nice for a performance at the end. The village really did look charming. The music was very warm and soothing and well chosen. The spider was a bizarre twist that i'm not sure i understood (unless it was just for giggles). There were a couple sets of doors that i didn't even get open (i don't like it when a level leaves areas unexplored!). All around good holiday fun and is a very effective mood-setter." - drguycrain (03-Jan-2008) |

"A sweet little level where Lara, looking very pretty in a red jacket, searches
a small town. To get inside a certain building she must find a crowbar,
lower a couple of glass cages, locate a tree object, and find a very sneaky
panel in one of the houses. The fixed camera in a cosy sittingroom shows
us that this is where we will come back to. The sneaky passage allows us
to go underground to find a record for the gramophone player. That
involves some swimming, opening doors, and shooting a spider
swinging on it's thread. Playing the record shows us a sweet little scene
of Lara singing in a choir, alongside a lovely lady with a beautiful voice. I
think this is Spongebob's first level, and as it's a Christmas level, I will
pass on being able to get to the end of the world quite easily, which
enabled me to do some roof hopping above the town. A very short and
very pleasant level to play this Christmastime." - CC (20-Mar-2007) |

"A small Christmas level with a fast gameplay; I only have a trouble finding the breakable panels, but rest is a peace of cake. Explore an small village to find a music disk to sing a chritmas song with your friends. Nice environment and no enemies for a short time playing. Near the final room, at the top of the stairs there's a closed door I couldn't open." - Jose (03-Feb-2007) |

"This is a sweet and short level although I have been running around like headless chicken and when in doubt: shoot everything in sight is still is a great solution. Especially when you are in the kitchen. I am not sure if I saw everything of this small village. There are still three doors that stayed closed, but the level ends when using the record player. Found one secret, at least I think it is one and that beetle one has to shoot, great" - Gerty (09-Jan-2007) |
|
"Overall this is a really nice package with a great intro and outro section added and the choice of classic music works well too. Gameplay is quite short at about 15 minutes though, as you explore this cosy little town, push a few objects around and then go underground to venture on in an ice cave and sewers of sorts. Found one secret." - MichaelP (06-Jan-2007) |

"This is a moody little christmas-level. Lara takes a walk in a village, and in the meantime she has to find a record, that is indispensable for the fiest. For this you also have to visit the sewer system under the village. You will also need the crowbar, the revolver and the lasersight too. Unfortunately you are not able to get behind the two closed doors in the house, although I would gladly take a look there. There are 6 stars hanging at various parts of the village. You can shoot them, but I couldn't find any reason to do so. The village is very beautiful, and moody festive music is playing during the gameplay. However I liked Lara's hair the best. You can find a Hungarian walkthrough (as we don't have English version), savegames and pictures here: http://treditor.hu/16/niklaus_day.htm" - Obig (20-Dec-2006) |
|
"Just an easy level for 30' of gameplay. No puzzles, no enemies and only few items to find. The level ends with Lara in a church listening to a singer. Not too much to say: beautiful settings and lots of shoes everywhere." - Loupar (19-Dec-2006) |
|
"From the town square at the start to the soloist singing Ave Maria at the end, this level charms all the way through. It's never too difficult to work out where to go next, while the physical layout is well put-together and full of detail.Gameplay depends on relatively easy exploration (all to the relaxed accompaniment of Schumann's Dreaming),a spot of target shooting and a simple object pushing excercise. It's relaxing and fun;in fact the atmosphere is such that, even when played on a hot day in June,it will probably still get you in the Christmas spirit." - Orbit Dream (17-Dec-2006) |
|
"This was a nice little Christmas level with my favorite Christmas setting: starry night in a village. The village is lovely with pretty decorations and snow all around. Lara needs to collect a few items in order to sing with the choir at the end. There was one area (Church roof) that landed Lara inside the Church and trapped. Once I realized my error (just wanted to practice a bit before the big performance, sheesh!), I reloaded a savegame. I thought this little level was nicely done, had lovely textures, and even an underground water area. The music was appropriate and very nice to listen to during this short jaunt. Nice job, Spongebob!" - Shandroid (16-Dec-2006) |

"There isnt much I can say about this level,it was too short and very easy. Took me 20 minutes to finish it. Moreover, this level didnt have any story so I had no idea what the goal is,I just took a walk in the village then moved into one of the houses and then I ended up in snowy caves (I felt a weird combination of places) then back again to the village to put the music CD in the machine and that was it...the background sound was nice though." - Shady Croft (15-Dec-2006) |
|
"An easy little advent level, for a half hour fun. In a village, Lara needs a record to play in the church, for they can celebrate Christmas together. There are two doors I couldn't open, also I went into the church via the roof, it was empty, but found a climbable wall leading to a little attic, so I guess the author didn't put in everything he originally intended." - Akcy (11-Dec-2006) |
|
"I love these Christmas levels. They're like a rest cure. This is a beautiful, snow covered, starlit village to explore in peace. You even get to do some swimming in what looks like very cold, but surprisingly clean water considering it takes you to the sewers. There's nothing difficult to achieve here, it's a short, charming, gentle level so relax, enjoy the lovely decorations and soak up the seasonal atmosphere." - Jay (10-Dec-2006) |
|
"It's a short and easy level. Your goal is to find a small tree item, a record, the revolver with the laser sight and exit the level with a nice cutscene. I can't say that you will have wow moments with this one but it's a fun level to play if you have some time to spare." - Kristina (10-Dec-2006) |
