Reviewer's comments |
"Well this is different! and in my opinion perfectly presented with fantastic visuals,
lighting, textures, atmosphere and music. Enemies consist of funny underwater eels and very
fashionable looking men lol. Gameplay alternates between very fresh and original tasks to
quite simple and easy ones (once you get the hang of some of the new moves) but either way
its definitely a pleasing environment to explore in. Tasks involves platforming and
acrobats, interacting with people for objects, a torch task and push-able object task
(involving light and mirrors) traps, memory puzzles and even a timed run. I especially
enjoyed the underwater tasks because you have an aqualung so there is no need to rush and
panic with the traps and the puzzles, speaking of which the puzzle involving the hidden key
under the cups i've never seen done in a tr level before and it made me smile, the colour
puzzle was unclear i thought despite the on screen hints. A the level progresses the setting
changes from day to nighttime and we find ourselves with a fun timed run (though a bit too
easy) a bit more climbing for some jump switches before a cool a boss fight. Overall this
level has a good variety of both fun and original tasks but a little too simple and short in
length for me but understandable because of the ORC aspects" - John (20-Apr-2023) |

"The title of this One Room Challenge level piqued my curiosity and decided to give it a go.
Overall I had a good time with this one, it was a really nice level to play! Loved the
middle eastern setting and the decor and items reflected that well. I loved the fact there
was a kebab in there as an item! It did make me chuckle a bit when I picked it up and saw
what it was haha! The gameplay was very enjoyable although I again maybe should have read
the read me file, as there were some new moves included that had me stumped right at the
beginning but once I knew where I stood I was fine. But all in all it was a good raid and
would definitely recommend :)" - Feats (12-Sep-2022) |

"I loved every second of this TRLE. Object selection, textures, music, lighting, the day/night changes, the
puzzles, the whole atmosphere is top notch. I spent close to 50 minutes finding all the Secrets (2) and
enjoying the scenario. The only slightly annoying point is in some places (especially in the water) the
collision of some objects on which Lara can get stuck. A really good ORC level with a great Persia setting! <3" - vandit (02-Aug-2022) |

"Here we are with Lore's One Room Challenge 2018 entry.
The level is Persia-Themed and it was very interesting to
play.
Both textures and objects are very well applied(they come
from the BTB2016 Package if I'm not mistaken), lighting
is top-notch so there is nothing bad to say about that. A
very good thing to note is that something happens to the
map near the end of the level, something that makes you
enter in a state of pure bliss, so hats off for that. The
usage of the camera is perfect and enhances already good-
looking areas. The puzzles aren't that difficult but they
are original and I liked them. Secrets are very well
placed (but not impossible to find). Something that I
appreciated was the boss fight at the end: I didn't
expect it to be a 2-phased bossfight, so it caught me off
guard(in a positive way). If I have to pick the best part
of the level, I would either pick the final part of the
level(when that aforementioned thing happens) or the
whole underwater section(that is like half of the level).
Overall, it is a very good and innovative level that
never got boring and kept me interested for the whole
duration of the game. Good Job.
Recommended? Yes, definitely.
Difficulty? Easy-Medium.
Duration? Approx. 30-45 minutes." - TombExplorer (05-Nov-2019) |

"A great 30 minutes showcase of what is possible to do
now. Atmosphere and audios choice and their triggering
are perfect. The second half of the level (once you begin
the underwater raid) is the most enjoyable. There are
many things appreciated : the fact that Lara uses a flare
once and can breathe forever underwater, the change of
setting day/night for the end , and many more with some
great ideas : the 'bonneteau' (hat game) leaves me
speechless. Many technical achievements throughout and
only a few slight irritations (Lara stuck in a wall
underwater , a few too many objects, the mirrors puzzle
help panel contains a strange hint for one of the three
(what is the 'right' mirror ? but it can be deduced by
elimination), and the course could be made with less
(fortunately short) backtrackings. Anyway memorable and a
must play. I agree it should be expanded to a full scale
adventure." - eRIC (14-Jul-2019) |

"In regard to gameplay, this is one of the best levels out of
the ORC-competition. You start with easy tasks like
pushblocks, levers, climbing (new moves have been
integrated) and finding/inserting objects, followed by some
extraordinary puzzles on land and in water. And it's cool
that Lara has infinite air underwater, so you can focus
better on the puzzles and traps and take your time. The
permanent emerging from the water is sometimes annoying in
Tomb Raider. We also have a timed run to solve and some
enemies to fight. Atmosphere has been created very well with
egyptian type of music and level design. At some points,
hints or information appear on the screen as an aid for the
puzzles or better experiences... A well-done level with it's
own special features. Where is the aforesaid Easter-egg tho?" - Nuri (04-Jun-2019) |

"A masterful level compressed into a tiny
space of one room (truthly the rooms to be
used are three), I spent over 20 minutes
in such a little space!! Oh my ... I'm
starting suffer of claustrophobia!!
Let's get into the review ...
I gave a full 10, why? Because aesthetics,
gameplay, secrets ... everything from this
level is perfect! Still closed in such a
tiny space ...
Totally recommended, this adventure has to
be played! . Wolfy Regards." - Wolf7 (15-Jan-2019) |

"This Level does cram alot of stuff into a very tiny space,
Very it has some very tricky traps and it had me raging
alot. But its worth a download it has some great
graphics too" - JoeTheCrazyGamer (01-Jan-2019) |

"Excellent; for me one of the best levels from this contest. A lot of tasks to accomplish only disposing of a reduced area it's very meritorious; small rooms very well ornated with some original puzzles and even on-screen help to make a more fluid gameplay. Some enemies to shoot, some traps to avoid, some gymnastics... it seems that the author thought about the variety so players can't get bored. Don't forget to look for the secrets to get the uzis; they'll be very useful to fight with the final bosses, but even if you can't found them I think there are enough medipacks to finish only with the pistols. A recommended level to enjoy. Thanks LoreRaider." - Jose (28-Dec-2018) |

"Desert, Persia, Sun and mysteries: what more do you want in a custom level?
I loved the Persian Back to Basics and I myself have used that magnificent set for my levels, so I can't miss a level with this charm. And what a charm! The fading flyby and Lara coming down from the camel are very nice and original.
Noteworty are the puzzles with mirrors and the shell game, both interesting for how it works and for scripting. And for those who creates levels, notice how Lara interacts underwater... an outdated engine can always surprises us!
Recommended!" - Talos (14-Dec-2018) |

"This is a Persia BTB-based level; it's great looking and
full of nice object use and details. Given the
inconsistencies in other levels the lighting is also very
good throughout. The water theme of the later half also
helps give it a fresh style. The gameplay is a nice mix
of tasks (although the position to use the coins is a bit
vague, although that's more of an issue with the BTB
package), and includes some fresh ideas like choosing the
right breakable to shoot after an object gets moved
around, along with the general underwater focus with
infinite air. The hint for the mirror puzzle seemed a bit
much given you could logically work it out, but that
could have been avoided if it was mentioned to only press
the button if you get stuck (which a later hint somewhat
does). The last couple of tasks also feel like they're
padding the time and don't really add anything of value
to the gameplay, especially the double monkey swing at
the end. Overall the issues are small and this is a great
entry to the contest." - Mman (26-Nov-2018) |
|
"A sumptuous environment to look at and
great fun to play too. The brilliant
cutscene promises something great and that
is what you get. The Back to Basics Persia
assets are rarely used (if at all) in the
custom level world and they are nicely
utilised here. The gameplay is not too
difficult for the average player and is
quite accessible, which I always like.
Plenty of excellent puzzling, trap
avoidance, usage of Lara's new movements
and an exhilarating timed run and boss
battle add up to an involving raid. A
wonderful experience." - Ryan (16-Oct-2018) |

"This an action packed 30 minute level in a great setting that was really a joy to play through. As a player you are quite well guided and yet feel you accomplish a whole lot in a short amount of time. The mirror puzzle is creative, some of the moves needed are sneaky but not too clever for their own good and you even get a timed run and a boss fight at the end. All that in a beautiful Persia environment, day/night setting change included, this just screams to be expanded further into a longer adventure outside of the constraints of the One Room Contest. Highly recommended!" - MichaelP (09-Oct-2018) |

"Another very good ORC level this year.
This time it's in Persia we discovered Lara who searching an hourglass.
I can just congratulate LoreRaider for this game because it was abolutely amazing with a lot of script who give an interresting setting to the adventure and more fun.
I think my personnal puzzle is when Lara need to find the key under one of the three moving cristal.
It's really someting very new in Tomb raider and i'm very curious to see how the author create with script someting like that.
The harpoon gun is also a great addition for kill snake under the water and at this point I can say it's Loreraider who use his water room the best.
Persia atmosphere is great and I like the various news audios and also the differents characters who help Lara during the adventure.
Another thing I have liked is the night replace the day at a moment and give something real to the adventure.
I can just recommended this level for everyone ;) !!!" - Bigfoot (08-Oct-2018) |

"This level appears to have been prepared using the package
provided for the Persian BtB competition. Hopefully we'll have
more of these to come out of the woodwork, as you get here a
full-fledged raid of about 40 minutes with a number of
pleasant twists and turns. You have the ability to push an
underwater button, you get to use some of Lara's new moves on
monkey bars, and there's a nice timed run at the end that
rewards you with a final battle involving two powerful
enemies. You know at the start when Lara hops off a camel that
you're in for an entertaining adventure, and that's exactly
what you get. Nicely done." - Phil (01-Oct-2018) |
|
"Excellent level, rather player-friendly and simultaneously
magically imaginative. The new moves, underwater sceneries,
quite doable traps and timed run, puzzles and the double
boss fight all contributed to a great ride in a small space
and the same can be said about the nice Persian
environments. You couldn't ask for much more with the One
Room Competition boundaries, I think. Well done." - Jorge22 (27-Sep-2018) |
|
"This pack just cannot fail... The hint for the mirror puzzle needs to be read in one go because each sentence gives you a vital information which precises the previous one given - so yeah you will read it several times, probably... No bigger issues, and thank Lore'd the tile puzzle has been reduced because in the beta it could be understand in too many possible ways (same as happened in Meridian level which originally had 48 possible ways to understand the keypad). Really nice atmosphere, tasking variety and gameplay progression should make this level suitable for everyone including the new players." - DJ Full (27-Sep-2018) |
|
"Another great orc level, i really liked the creative
puzzles and also that you placed hints in case the player
gets stuck. The enemies and the objects are great, about
the atmosphere, i liked the day change to night and the
lighting is lovely as well the textures." - ameliacrofty (26-Sep-2018) |

"Fantastic raid! Impressive in the confined space of the
One Room Challenge, this feels like a complete level
despite the limitation. There is a mounting sense of
progression, with the difficulty of the tasks building
over time and culminating in a satisfying double boss
fight. The whole while, it's beautiful to look at,
especially the effects with dust storms, mist, lightbeams,
and waterfalls. I was particularly intrigued by some of
the new puzzles like the "cup game." I always enjoy new
features, and this was a fun one. However, the
pushable/rotation puzzle was difficult partly because I
couldn't understand the instructions. A simplified
description would have been helpful, or better yet
something about the environment itself that would allow
the builder to avoid having to use written instructions at
all. I also disliked the abundance of extra objects, like
the carpet stands and the trees and plants that still had
collision, as this made navigating terrain difficult and
sometimes resulted in Lara getting stuck behind certain
objects. New moves are well used and provide excitement
for climbing the decorated walls and caverns of the level,
and enemies were great (especially the creepy underwater
snakes) although I would have enjoyed more of the bad guys
with scimitars. One of my favorites of this year's One
Room Challenge, this is worth a play beyond the
competition!" - Cbl (24-Sep-2018) |

"What this level lacks in terms of overall gameplay difficulty, it more than makes up for in other areas(offering some creative fresh puzzles that really test your brain, alongside an incredibly beautiful and immersive atmosphere reminiscent of the Prince of Persia franchise that makes the level feel properly lived-in, with excellent use of enemies, objects, ambiance, lighting & texturing throughout).
Overall, a level that I highly recommend for anyone in the mood for a quality raid." - Ceamonks890 (24-Sep-2018) |

"I think a level opening with Lara dismounting from a camel may be an all time first. It certainly made me anticipate an interesting level and that's exactly what I got. It was lovely to see those gorgeous Back to Basics Persia objects and textures again and this would indeed have made a fine entry in that competition. Excellent puzzles and Lara's ability to breath underwater certainly endeared this level to me, not to mention the PLS system that I wish could be incorporated into every level. Lara's new moves are also well showcased and everything combines to make this a most enjoyable experience." - Jay (23-Sep-2018) |

"Amazing puzzles. Good texturing and lighting.
Really gives out that TR experience." - Troye (21-Sep-2018) |

"Another great level from LORE .. good job I really enjoyed your level. I love
your new puzzles. No need to say more" - Sabatu (20-Sep-2018) |
|
"Another solid entry into this one room challenge. Particularly enjoyed the underwater sequences as you had the aqualung and did not continually need to seek air pockets. The new moves need to be used here quite a bit so read up on them. Lighting was great and the textures wonderful." - Torry (19-Sep-2018) |

"Well, I guess builders from now on, must think about making
One Room levels... Great job and thank you. These are the
words I can only say about these ORC debuts... ;)" - Mehrbod (18-Sep-2018) |

"A fabulous beginning;stunning use of lighting
effects;wonderful atmosphere;beautiful interiors - this
level tries desperately hard, from first moment to last,to
be innovative and unusual;and succeeds more often than
not.
Unfortunately,it's the 'not' that hampered my
enjoyment. At least two of the well set-up puzzles were
achievable through pure trial-and-error;and some of the
necessary object-placement interaction was too buggy
(leading the player to potentially believe that they were
doing the wrong thing).
Just when I was cursing the builder for being too clever
for their own good, they threw something wonderful in my
direction to appease me:those creative climbing
sequences;the beautiful opening up of new areas;the well-
measured challenges;gorgeous and exotic environments.It
seems a pity that several of the puzzles, while striving
for greatness, felt more like game-stoppers;because this
whole adventure never for one moment came across as a
level built with any technical restrictions - on the
contrary,it appeared to push the boundaries of
construction on many an occasion.Irritating at
times, then;but also quite ravishing and exotic." - Orbit Dream (18-Sep-2018) |
|
"Fantastic visuals. Beautiful texture work. I couldn't believe it was all just one-room! My only negative is that the gameplay could have been a little more exciting, and also I wish it was a bit longer. But all in all a fantastic level." - Baratheon (18-Sep-2018) |
|
"A solid entry in the competition, the builder did a quite good job in using the limited space without making the level feel constrained much. The lighting is quite well done and texturing is clean, overall the builder shows once more that he can create great atmospheric levels. I also found the gameplay to be quite enjoyable and diverse despite the hardly avoidable shortness, with a good mix of new features that add a lot to the experience. The shell puzzle is certainly the technical highlight here. The other puzzles like the colour and the mirror ones are good too but not very logical (the beams do not follow a realistic path and the colour don't add up correctly). Added hints were valuable, though. Still any new puzzle is better than just repeating standard tasks everyone can play blindly so this effort is highly appreciated. The few enemies are decently placed, the secrets are okay (not too hard actually) and technical skill is certainly visible in a few nice designs like e.g. the items you can use underwater. On the whole, I must say quite a well-rounded effort taking me 20 minutes to finish." - manarch2 (18-Sep-2018) |
