Reviewer's comments |
"I'm starting to branch out with some of the non-TR4 levels, and I found this one to be
remarkably well done. It has just the right balance of timed runs, platforming exercises,
secrets, enemies and pickups, and it took me right at an hour to complete, even with the
help of José's typically competent walkthrough. It always irritates me when builders disable
a built-in tool that's designed to be accessed by players, but even though in this case the
gamma feature has been disabled, ample flares are provided such that finding your way around
never becomes an issue. A nice TR3 raid, and I'm looking forward to playing the full
release." - Phil (19-Oct-2024) |

"I enjoyed this Demo, the vibes of TR3 I really enjoyed.
Seeing London in daytime in a setting that felt realistic was really cool.
Lighting and textures all looked good, I especially liked how the borders of the world were
hidden with the clever lighting beams.
I collected 3/4 secrets that were placed relatively in close proximity to each other, but
the way to get each one had some clever and fun platforming.
Really fun to play, looking forward to the full release :)" - JimmyBeon (06-Aug-2024) |

"At last, a level I think it had a good betatesting; nothing really annoying here except the tricky drops onto the breakable tiles to get one of the secrets, but it's only that: a secret. The names of the items never appeared in my inventory too. The gameplay is fluid and entertaining, there are enough pickups, the enemies are well balanced and the texturization is correct. Pehaps some rooms are too dark (my old monitor?) but I found enough flares. The only "but": how to know the place to use the crank? It should be a camera or so pointing to that place. Recommended for all those TR3 lovers, but don't expect great puzzles. Ah! And don't forget to pickup the crowbar after each use." - Jose (14-Feb-2024) |

"I can't tell how well a particular London area is recreated, but I'll believe it is. I
thought the game was rather dark at times, or maybe I just didn't like the textures a lot,
even though I normally am a TR3 fan. Everything fits, that's true, but there are things I
didn't understand what they were for exactly, namely when Lara monkey swings and uses a
switch that lowers parts of the ceiling. It made me scratch my head, because really, what
was that for exactly? Was it there just to make you waste some time? You can decide to get
all the secrets or not, and there's always a reward when you get them (not that you'll
actually need them, not on this demo). Ok, maybe I'm sounding too negative by now... I
thought it was an ok level, only it didn't astound me." - Jorge22 (27-Jan-2024) |

"After creating a different jungle, Reggie managed to create a different London than Core's
interpretation of it, and far better I may add! A very impressive recreation of an actual
area in London, awesome atmosphere, beautiful and engaging gameplay. Took me 1:30 to finish.
It's actually shorter but I didn't want to leave so I kept searching for the last and well
hidden secret. Very eager to play the finished project. Highly recommended." - billie2001 (25-Jan-2024) |

"Same gripe as with many vertical levels - there's a way to minimize the climbing but if you don't know it in advance, you will probably ascend multiple times the same way, which extends the runtime almost twice. People also told me on stream the game was quiet, which may or may not be an issue to report. Other than that it's a very beautiful and gripping level where you can feel the London vibe just like in Thames Wharf or even better. Hopefully the complete release will hold up to the demo. Recommended." - DJ Full (18-Jan-2024) |

"I haven't reviewed a level in ages, but this Demo level has been an excellent one to come
back to! I thoroughly enjoyed my time with this level for various reasons. There is of
course the theme / presentation. A smaller housing / workshop corner on a river is very
underutilized theme overall, especially to be done well, but this level does it. Cranes,
Drawbridges, Sheds with corrugated steel roofs, abandoned factory buildings and broken
windows, it's all here and it's very enjoyable to traverse across rooftops and balconies.
The only thing that isn't perfect is the lighting, the level is a tiny bit too dark overall,
but that may just be a TR3 Problem.
Gameplay is pretty nice too. Yes overall it's fairly easy, but given that this is a demo of
a longer level series I find the difficulty perfect for the first level in a set. I found
all the secrets and gear except for the Grenade Launcher, which is a nice thing to
eventually come back to. It all just played very smoothly for a lovely evening level!
I absolutely cannot wait for the final version to come out and to potentially get into more
urban industry environments and houses, I'm excited!" - The Snarky Lesbian (10-Jan-2024) |

"This is an appealing little slice of TR3
fun. We don't get that many London levels
these days, so it was nice to roam around in
one as pleasing to the eye as this one was
and the little town area especially was
really charming. Gameplay is relatively
uncomplicated but entertaining enough for
the duration, and the secrets are an
enjoyable side quest to venture out for.
Enemies are few in number and more than
enough powerful weaponry is provided if you
look carefully. You even get a brief jaunt
on the speedboat to bring the level to a
close. A very pleasant raid." - Ryan (10-Jan-2024) |
