Reviewer's comments
"A huge level with a very original concept. The beauty of some scenarios is overwhelming and slightly reminds me of Dark Souls, logically with a first-person puzzles like Portal. The quality of the puzzles is somewhat uneven; I feel that the creativity of some ideas could have been exploited more. Sometimes they are more intimidating than truly complex. Nevertheless, the whole ensemble leaves you pleasantly satisfied. I loved the rooms 6 (The Otherside), 7 (The Compass), 18 (Nyctophobia), 22 (Entrance to Tower), 27 (The Center), and 28 (The Cube)." - requiemsoul (05-Feb-2025)
"I really enjoyed a lot this game. Excellent work. Very complex, going from simple to extremly hard. The author is a very generous person and I must thank for this kind of games. Maybe some puzzles are repeated several times, but it doesn´t matter. Really hard the timed doors with a toarch in hand. I liked the oportunity to know how many secrets are there in each room and, that you don´t have to play all the game again if you want to try to get them. I arrived to the end, but I really wanted to get more secretes, so I used the portals to go to the places where I suspected there were the secrets. Finally I got 42 of 43. In some part I lost a little bit the way and I was able to jump from and upper floor to a lower floor, maybe the game needs some limits to avoid these pass, because, from the silver secrets reward level, I was able to jump to the gold reward level without getting the three gold secrets. Also in the room with the ball that rolls over a not-visible way until you get the toarch, when I finished with the draco, I lost the way and I jumped to the portal levels, that make me arrive to the water room by the upper room level and not by the slides. Maybe that was also interesting at the end." - Juan Carlos (10-Dec-2024)
"After my rather unsatisfactory experience with this builder's ambitious first effort, I was somewhat reluctant to brave this second just as ambitious offering. Well, I must now eat my words as I admit to greatly enjoying this one. I spent my time over the past week or so carefully savouring this gigantic game, as this is definitely one you'll probably need to take your time with. The surroundings are a lot more impressive this time round (particularly the open abyss areas and the beautiful Sanctuary of Light), with some great use of lighting and fog throughout. The puzzles become progressively more challenging, until it finally culminates in this astounding final area where you need to manipulate a cube to obtain your final prize. Actually, manipulating the environment is the name of the game here and the puzzles revolve around that gameplay aspect. Another neat addition is the use of a torch to literally light the way to new paths/areas. It's all brilliantly creative stuff and Dawos should indeed be applauded. The only downside was having to scale certain structures up and down numerous times, as it did get rather confusing when I tended to forget which actions I'd already performed. Maybe a bit overboard with the gladiators and dragons too, although I didn't mind the ahmets too much. A truly awe-inspiring raid and not to be missed if you're up for it. Loved the secret bonus levels setup too." - Ryan (25-Nov-2024)
"A very long puzzle-focused game. The gameplay is basically solving a puzzle in a room and advancing to the next one after you've solved it. It starts very simple and easy, but some of the later rooms are large and the puzzles elaborate. I think it's suitable for everyone: if it's too difficult, you can stop in the middle of it, and maybe return later if you got better at Tomb Raider. I couldn't finish the game because of a bug, but I got near the end. (At least I think so.) The bug seems to be rare, possibly even unique to me, so I'm not letting it affect my rating or perception of the level.
  • The gameplay is very different from the author's previous level. The previous level was non-linear and full of enemies, this one is quite linear (a long chain of rooms) with not many enemies. Only the visual appearance is very similar.
  • It starts tutorial style. You get taught how to use the various gameplay elements. The next room presents you with a slightly more complex puzzle with more elaborate use of these elements.
  • I actually thought this was a tutorial part before the real game starts, but it stays a chain of rooms with challenges, mostly focusing on puzzles.
  • I found it very interesting and entertaining, even though I don't have a particular preference for puzzles. There's enough creativity that most rooms feel fresh and don't tire you out with same-ness.
  • Many of the puzzles require some thinking and some time to figure out. I think they're all fair and doable, nothing mean. I didn't need much additional help outside of trying harder or using the hint system.
  • If you're stuck, you can try the hint system. I think this one is relatively good compared to other custom levels which have them. It usually shows you the order in which you have to reach places. The only bad thing is that it uses roman letters which look the same from front and back, so it's ambiguous sometimes.
  • You never need to return to previous rooms. Sometimes the return path is closed. As the game tells you, you can return to all the rooms at the end of the game to collect secrets. In fact, at the end you revisit most rooms through previously inaccessible higher up places.
  • There are very little enemies. The only problem are the gladiators, which are extremely hard to kill. The gladiators feel overpowered and unbalanced. There are also some semi-invincible enemies, which you have to get rid of indirectly. There's no lack of ammo or medipacks.
  • Sometimes there are timed runs or challenges where you have to be very fast and which raise the difficulty level a lot. One might ask whether this is really necessary in a puzzle focused game.
  • Some bugs. In one room you have to align blocks to let lead a beam of electricity to its target. I seemingly solved that, but the door still didn't open. It turned out that it was a small bug, I just had to move a block around to get past it. A more fatal bug was at the end, which prevented me from finishing the game, but which is probably rare, as I mentioned at the start of this review.
  • There were some irritating inconsistencies, like which type of movable block or platform could transport a torch or not.
  • Visually, it stays mostly the same all the time. Maybe some will find it boring. But it does its job, and sometimes it'll impress you anyway. Most of it looks fairly elaborate and detailed.
In summary, you should probably try it. If it grabs you with the puzzles that continuously get more elaborate every room, you will like the rest." - tuxraider (28-Sep-2024)
"Disliked
  • The end of the adventure can be a bit confusing if the player does not realize there are many light bridges across the different areas that need a lit torch. Some kind of visual indicator for inactive light bridges would help with this.
  • The ladder climbing animation is sped up, which is fine, but somehow the sideways ladder movement is slower than normal despite its animation also being sped up.
Liked
  • It should be obvious from many of my other reviews that I have a strong affection for puzzles in gameplay. So it should be no surprise that I found the gameplay highly enjoyable, nor that I give this adventure a full 10/10, despite any minor complaints above. The puzzles start off nice and easy, but there are 28 puzzle rooms in total and things will get more complicated fairly quickly. Every puzzle was sensible and I never felt like I had to randomly guess to solve one.
  • Many unique gameplay elements are present, such as using pushables to control what parts of the water conduct electricity, horizontal and vertical portals, and light bridges that require a torch to be held as an additional layer to the puzzles.
  • There are some platforming and timed challenges as well, so this adventure will also require some dexterity on top of brainpower.
  • The visuals are very strong, with nice differentiation in fog and lighting from one area to the next.
Time: 9 hours 5 minutes | Difficulty: Very Hard | Rating: 10/10 - Outstanding" - JesseG (22-Aug-2024)
"The fear of having to play the demo from scratch has not come true. Although the rooms are quite the same, they are a little more player-friendly. I was spared the never-ending block-pushing action from the demo. This final version offers three more levels which, in my opinion, far surpass the first part. The tasks in the further course are very varied and sometimes quite complex. With some of them, you have to think very carefully about how to solve them. As a rule, it's about moving certain blocks so that they are connected to each other, even through time portals, or bringing the torch to higher levels, or using it so that you can cross certain paths. I really liked these actions with the torch. They are well thought out and quite new to me. The search for the secret spheres is not absolutely necessary, but you should have found a certain number in order to activate three portals that lead to the bonus level. This part alone is worth playing. At the end of the game, and not only, you can go back from the very last room to the very first room to search for the missing spheres. The only thing that bothered me about this level, however, was that some of the tasks were repetitive. Although in different environments, but actually nothing was really different. In my opinion, however, this was compensated for by very well designed areas, perfect lighting and very well used music. In general, the autor deserves a big compliment for the great rooms he has built. There are few enemies, as this is more about solving various tasks. A level that can only be recommended. Very large, very well built and with lots of new attractions." - nad (02-Aug-2024)
"When a builder has 200 IQ, I don't know if I should be excited or dreaded. In the end I lost half of my cortex here, so in the final riddle refused to think but stayed subliminal. Was it my subconsciousness or pure luck which helped me solve it? I don't know. But it's not the puzzles which are the problem. A level as advanced and complicated as this requires gameplay transparency. Meanwhile, I was too often unsure if I'm even doing intended things, and too often it appeared I was not. Another thing is I took 16 net hours but the scenery of every level was shades of the same color, like in modern gaming. Therefore I spent a lot of time on learning how not to be overwhelmed. I've recorded several days of insight for the builder so I won't bother players with details - tl;dr the rest is fine and the author is amazing, but mind it's a game not to try unless you are ready." - DJ Full (02-Aug-2024)
