"An enjoyable and not overly challenging TR2 adventure that's just the ideal length, while
I'm steadily making my way through a larger levelset at the same time. It's somewhat
faithful to the original TR2 Great Wall in layout near the beginning, but it does become
something different after that (the Scottish castle textures are put to good effect here and
for the most part it looks good). There's a little too much repetitive switch throwing going
on, but the gameplay is generally balanced out by the fun exploration factor and the nicely
set up (if not too tricky) boulder and spike traps. The strongest part I thought were the
enemy attacks. They often spawn in quite effective places, and you do need to utilise some
form of reliable strategy to preserve your health. You do get a shedload of Shotgun ammo
plus additional weaponry, so do go ahead and use that if you prefer. The second part seemed
to end just as it was warming up, but maybe there are additional installments planned? A
nice little raid." - Ryan (01-Mar-2026) |

"Like the author's previous release, this Tomb Raider 2 release is a Celtic remake, this time of The Great Wall (also using the Lost Artifact textures this time, instead of BTB2013). It's overall good looking, and a step up from the previous release, with more dynamic geometry, and better lighting (it's still a little flat occasionally but for less stretches than before). The enemy types also feel a bit more natural here, and plenty of other custom objects are well-used to support the theme as well. While climbing around the higher parts of the main area I did get some issues with geometry not appearing properly, but it went away later so I guess I needed to reach a certain point before it loaded?
Like the Caves remake this is pretty loose with that title, as, outside of a few rooms, it has far more to it than the original Great Wall, and by the second half it has almost no resemblance at all. The more complex gameplay is generally well implemented, but it is a bit heavy on switches with no clues of what they do. There seem to be some unintentional shortcuts, as, in the main outdoor section of the first level, I quite easily went over a door you are supposed to find keys for (and seemingly a couple of other rooms too), which led to some confusion about what the intended path was, this is also where the previously mentioned rendering issues happened. Beyond a couple of nasty boulders I felt the traps were actually less intense than the original level, however, enemies are quite a bit more dangerous, and this level did a good job placing them in ways where they can catch you out, although you start with a massive amount of Shotgun ammo, as well as getting other weapons throughout.
Despite the remake theme there are two levels here, with the second being an entirely different level (although still Celtic), it's very short and just when I thought it was about to get started it was the end. Apparently that's because a follow-up is coming. I was a little disappointed you don't seem to go past a T-Rex pit, but I did miss a secret so maybe it's there? A good set and improvement over the previous release, and hopefully the follow-up will continue that whether it completely original or the second "half" of the Great Wall." - Mman (25-Feb-2026) |

"This is a beautiful interpretation of the Wall level in Celtic style but it seemed quite distinctive to me. Worth playing! The enemies were well chosen, thpough it seemed to me like there were more battles in this game than in the referenced original. The gameplay inclues a lot of climbing, finding switches and keys just like you would expect from a classic TRII game. However, the Scotland texture set was extended by some custom-made textures that really help make this level into something special. I noticed some minor mistakes in texturing and once I touched the limit of the map but the overall game is just very pretty and fun to explore." - Sponge (11-Jan-2026) |

"I enjoyed playing this level ... nice textures and design though sometimes the images were deceiving on the PC screen - a little like an optical illusion where an element which juts out looked like it went in and was a platform!
The enemies were a little frustrating, especially the stone men (?) who throw icicles at you ... tactics needed to find how/where to go to kill them. A shotgun was handy for them also!
The werewolf men were good too ... spiders, fish ...
A few times I got hopelessly lost in trying to figure out what to do next. There are so many levers and buttons to pull and push and sometimes I had no clue what they did!
Sliding blocks are not obvious and you need to push/pull them randomly to cover a slightly different area on the floor ... so easy to miss. I think I missed some areas somewhere but there is a lot to explore and places to go which are not at all obvious.
I ended up almost by accident at the final doorway which needed two oval seals and I had both seals!! So I must have done something right.
Overall enjoyable and quite challenging. Not too hard, which I like, but loads of places to explore and investigate as you go ..." - David (06-Jan-2026) |

"Organic. You can feel the plan behind the architecture, also the kind which wouldn't collapse in real life. It's mostly a Scottish set nicely blending in occasional foreign intrusions, but this time in TR2 instead of engines we lately got used to, so if you want celtic, classic and crude, this is it. But maybe let's wait for an update following my testing, as it addresses many things, and when out, let's update the reviews as well." - DJ Full (30-Dec-2025) |

"As a tr2 level, the visual performance is quite good except few texture error, and the music
pairs well with the game. The hidden spots are cleverly placed in some unexpected locations.
However, there are drawbacks: many switches don’t provide any feedback when pulled—if
that’s somewhat acceptable, a timed switch lacking even a hint is rather unreasonable.
The forced camera angle near the waterfall is frustrating, making it hard to get one’s
bearings.
Enemies are overly abundant with excessively high health, while supplies are insufficient.
Certain mechanisms, such as spiked walls, are quite challenging to pass.
I got stuck on slopes multiple times and couldn't move at all.
Beyond these issues, the gameplay is still quite solid. The level design is well-thought-
out, requiring careful exploration, and the game is definitely worth playing." - cheng (21-Dec-2025) |
