Reviewer's comments
"I continued my journey through the Mysteries Series this time playing through Molise. A very enjoyable raid it was too! Once again a lovely setting this time set in a church and forested area. Gameplay was solid and not too challenging, which isn't a bad thing in my eyes. Not everything has to provide a challenge. Sometimes its nice to just soak in the world that has been created. I liked the call back to the Crash Site level from TR3 (You'll know what I mean if you see it!) Think I only had to check a walkthrough once to find the crowbar that I had walked right past only minutes before haha! Decent variety of enemies although like the previous level combat wasn't too frequent that it got in the way of good old exploration. It generally was beautiful to the eyes with some lovely music to accompany it too. I'm liking how the story is progressing and looking forward to the next chapter and visiting Essen. Would recommend :)" - Feats (07-Sep-2022)
"A bit darker tone than the first part, this one already shows much more feedback in action. Texturing quality is a bit jumpy from place to place, but the core ideas are very well executed. It's gonna be one of those levels I will get pictures from in my head sometimes." - DJ Full (11-Jul-2022)
"With Gardens, churches, sewers, jungles, lakes, industrial areas, caves, caverns and marshes there is no end to the variety of areas to explore in just this single level and what is so good is the way it all flows into to one another seamlessly with just such fun and enjoyable gameplay, speaking of the gameplay it’s not perfect as there are some annoying obscure tasks as well as search and find heavy objectives but even though the beginning of the level is mostly about finding objects and using them I found the way some of these items have to be used quite original and very clever. Of course the highlights me for of this level were the exploration, traps and enemy jump scares, as well as the challenging platforming and timed runs especially that one with the swing bars that took me about 10 attempts! haha. My favourite areas are firstly the start of the level which just oozes with atmosphere and that orange sky is just to die for! and then secondly the swamp/marsh area which was refreshing and fun to explore around in with the throwback to an tr3 South Pacific level. Visuals, music and cameras were all top notch with great cutscenes and flyby cameras to show off some lovely environments and as a pointer to your next objective. I can’t wait for the builders next level as all 3 levels they have released so far have been so much fun and a definite replay will be enjoyed by myself again at some point" - John (04-Jul-2022)
"Excellent level, excellent textures, a truly engaging atmosphere and several often original tasks literally made me fall in love with this splendid level performed by Ilaria in a masterly way. Can't wait to play his next chapter. Congratulations to this builder who, as a novice, was able to grasp the spirit of true exploration. I recommend it to everyone" - Emaraider (25-Nov-2021)
"This is a fairly straightforward raid through a church and its immediate surroundings. It's too dark for my tastes, but that didn't significantly dampen my enjoyment of the level. José has provided a clearly written walk that carried me through some of the rougher sections, and the three secrets are reasonably well hidden. The tasks will be familiar to seasoned players: find and place three cog wheels, jump the safe squares in a quicksand pit, find the right spot to dig a hole in the ground, and deal with an assortment of enemies as you make your way through the level. The car keys are used, not to drive the vehicle but to retrieve a weapon from the trunk. Nice touch. It took me about an hour and a half to play, and while it was a fun and competent raid I saw nothing outstanding about it." - Phil (02-Nov-2021)
"I definitely liked the intro to the level, which gives a nice recap, even if you didn't play the first level Alberobello (Like me). The enviroment and level location is creative and unique, the atmosphere calm but eerie: you can tell something's off about the church and the surrounding area. I think the sound, textures and lights were on point throughout the whole level, providing the right mood to the right occasion. The only thing that I would say it's not my cup of tea were certain boulder traps which felt a bit to sudden, not giving you enough time to react, given that you're most likely not aware of them. Overall, it was a great level, and I will probably play the first level and wait for the third chapter. PS: gran bel lavoro!" - ViridionSama (01-Nov-2021)
"An adventure quite polished with a storyline promising a third installement hopefully. The builder has made a elegant job with cameras , objects and audios. Not many enemies at first , more near the end. Gameplay is of the middle of the road type with a bit of everything , rather well balanced. A good level like the first one." - eRIC (01-Nov-2021)
"second part of the first Alberobello mystery masterpiece. 😍 I love the continuous story as if it were one of the first tomb raiders. all perfect without bugs very well done textures this time puzzles a bit more difficult but perfect in everything. I look forward to the third party.🤞" - Bangkok (31-Oct-2021)
"I've been struggling with a long, complicated level set, so I decided I really needed a break, and this is what I got, a really nice level, with a nice atmosphere (in Germany, but clearly using the Ireland effects), excellent textures (or so it seems to me), and a thrilling adventure without ever making it tough on the player. The level even manages to effectively use a few TR3 features that are quite uncommon, namely the piranas (and cross- jumping just three blocks with them in the water), and crossing a swamp by jumping from leaf to leaf. The soldiers are also used quite effectively when needed, and so are the car keys, which puzzled me for a while. The fact that it's a somewhat humble release may make it look less than it actually is, but I thought it was rather well crafted, varied, player-friendly, good-looking, and obviously recommended. There's a tendency not to rate these kinds of levels very high, but I will do it nonetheless, as I think it's deserved." - Jorge22 (29-Oct-2021)
"This was a very nice continuation to author’s previous work and is pretty much guaranteed to offer good gaming time. Gameplay is quite straight-forward involving typical platforming, timed runs, few pushable puzzles and a swamp puzzle, which has the same idea as the one from TR3. Couple of more elaborate tasks could have helped to elevate gameplay but, nevertheless, the game kept me entertained from the beginning to the end. Atmosphere is also great with some relaxing music in the church. Environment looks also very good including well used textures. Lighting could have been enhanced with higher contrast though, and the room geometry could be more complex in some of the natural areas to make them look more organic. Overall, the game is crafted still very skillfully and was a joy to play." - Samu (28-Oct-2021)
"Having recently played her first level I was looking forward to the follow-up. I was not disappointed. Some improved graphics, fewer puzzles, but still the same solid story line, not overly challenging but some nice touches in gameplay e.g. the location of the revolver. Secrets well hidden. Recommended to all for a pleasant raid." - Adrian (23-Oct-2021)
"This is good looking, solid stuff and despite of the darkness a rather relaxing 45 minute level. The first area (of the second level) and the church are very nice looking as well as the waterfall area and the others are decently designed as well, with little to fault concerning the texturing (maybe that it's a bit monotonous). The usage of sounds and cameras is also professional and there were a few nice scenes to see here. Perhaps I would make a few of the underground areas a bit brighter or add a little more contrast in some parts. The gameplay is also enjoyable mostly, but a bit more could've been done in order to make this diverse and challenging as it's fairly easy to get through, except of a few medium timed runs. A few puzzles are present but the solution is often very clear before. Nevertheless I enjoyed the progression in this level that nicely ends where it all started; all in all a good game that overall could have some more spice to it. Found all three nice secrets." - manarch2 (23-Oct-2021)
"It's one of those safe TRLE's that has good play in it and had great direction, along with the map being a nice size! I think this level was set up really well! The tools that you found along the way were plentiful and the weapons issued were the perfect amount considering the enemies that were there. Also, I enjoyed the mix of themes from official TR games such as the swamp that was reminiscent of TR III and the spider cave like TR II's. Even the cogwheel waterfall puzzle similar to TR '96. I'd highly recommend this TRLE to everyone! Cheers! Great level!!" - g12STL (22-Oct-2021)
"If you played Alberobello Mysteries before, you'd already know that Ilariacroft is a very promising Italian LD; her second work is a direct sequel to her debut level and, as a matter of facts, it keeps all the promises made by the former. In Molise Mysteries, after a very short prologue in Croft Manor, we will be taken in a dark, fascinating forest in middle Italy, where Lara has to find the way to get an important relic that will be useful in the already-announced third issue of the trilogy (and of course, that won't be an easy work). This time Ilariacroft shifts to a more classic gameplay: you won't interact with NPC like you did in the first part of AM, and puzzles are very few. The gameplay is mainly based on action and exploration: you will have to make your way to the relics by finding keys and lever, killing enemies and guessing the right paths. All the things you want in a classic TR: and in facts, there will be a lot of reminiscences to the first three games (inclunding at least three environments that are a direct citation to them!). By the way, the locations are really wonderful and well-built: you'll find yourself in a dark forest, in a beautiful valley with waterfall, in a gothic sanctuary and... oh well, surprise. The difficulty is easy to medium, you won't have to be a genius to get through this level; but it's not a banal one, and you'll really enjoy it." - Nillc (20-Oct-2021)
"Really a good level to enjoy. Not hard to play, it's difficult get stucked 'cause you always find enough hints to do something. Excellent design with a good history, well balanced enemies, beautiful environments, enough guns, ammo, flares and medipacks, well worked atmosphere... There's only a task I didn't like: the timed run in the pit with the two horizontal swinging poles and the big wheel-switch; I think the time is too tight. Perhaps it's not a masterpiece, but it's a very entertaining level recommended for everybody. Good work!" - Jose (19-Oct-2021)
"Sometimes you play a level and it immediately just clicks with you, this is definitely one of those cases. The progression in and around the church is nicely paced, beginning with some relatively serene exploration and simple fetch quests and ramping up nicely throughout as you make your way through the surrounding caves and canyons, before the final section beneath the church catacombs where things get a little trickier and more challenging. The only thing that might stump some raiders are a couple of rather snugly timed sequences, but otherwise any raider should find something to enjoy here. The surroundings are gorgeously crafted, the undoubted centrepiece being the church itself, very nicely done. Atmosphere throughout is just sublime throughout. Very enjoyable stuff!" - Ryan (19-Oct-2021)
"This second level by ilariacroft follow the first one with a new location in Italy to find two hearts of the two patron saints of Alberobello: the twins Cosmas and Damian. Personnaly, even if the firt level is great, the second one is better. I loved the big church, the bog and the waterfalls lake. The design of the builder is amazing and now everytime I play a level build with TombEditor I think it's time for me to replace NGLE by TombEditor. The level is like the first one, not very hard and can be easily play by beginners players who want discovered customs levels. I can just congratulate AGAIN ilariacroft for this second level and hope play the sequel of this one in a near future :-) !!" - Bigfoot (18-Oct-2021)
"Another relaxing and most enjoyable adventure from Ilaria. The starting area with the church and its surroundings is charming. The whole setting comes from a real Italian area and it feels fresh and new. Although the area is not big, there are a lot of tasks to complete around and inside the church. Basic tasks, but still enjoyable. Then you proceed to the next area with a lake and waterfalls in search for three cogwheels in order to proceed to the next area and the gameplay becomes progressively more serious, with traps, timed runs etc. Nothing taxing though. No innovations or substantial puzzles but the enjoyment factor is high and makes up for it. Recommended." - billie2001 (16-Oct-2021)
"The level is a very good continuation of the first level Alberobello Mysteries. It starts out very straightforward and with supposedly easy tasks. However, this will change greatly in the course of the game, much to my pleasure. Even though the first area with the church is very small, there are enough tasks you have to do to get further. Behind the church there are more areas that are much more complex and the tasks are also a bit more difficult, which is good for the game. You first come to an area with two waterfalls from where you have to explore further areas to find three Cogwheels. After inserting these Cogwheels you come back through a spider cave to the church where the game ends. I really liked the textures and lighting in the church area. They were also well chosen in the other. Some of the tasks are well thought out and easy to master. What I liked very much is the way the LB understands how to design the tasks in supposedly small areas so that you have enough to do. This is a level that I can only recommend." - nad (15-Oct-2021)
"A very calm and relaxing adventure. The atmosphere and objects are excellent, similar to the first levels of the Chronicles. But the gameplay is too straightforward. I would like to add more riddles. I'll be waiting for the next part!" - ddaring_dash (15-Oct-2021)
"Pleasant adventure to chill with, a short-medium one. It offers a cold and dark theme but that turns out to feel kind of warm if played during an autumn day. It mixes southern Italian style with a dark/doomed one that could remind of Ireland section but it never gets really "that" gloomy or medieval. Some "vintage" feeling of pre-2008 levels is there.
The gameplay is pretty straightforward with no big focus on puzzles (some of them are even voided because of the "solution-before-puzzle" setting, or too close solutions), some areas are also underexploited, in my opinion, for their size, and no standing out innovations, but that's what makes it pretty intuitive and chill, that could be a preference for some players. Interconnection is good and the final area reconnects everything, with a nice finale.
Graphically, with the standards reached today, this level doesn't stand out, and a blocky/squared structure is often too noticeable. The lighting is sometimes a bit boring or dull and doesn't always "set" an atmosphere, but no major issues are found and the author copied the cathedral from a real life one, with success.
Storytelling is nice, not mandatory to proceed but also not heavy if the player chooses to follow it.
I found 1 secret on 3, which means they're well hidden and don't interfere with the main gameplay.
I recommend this for a chill evening of relax. I ended my game anyway satisfied." - dinne (15-Oct-2021)
